Summer Games [Wednesday]

A fully grown Anakin Skywalker was back in his normal spot in the park, megaphone in hand. In addition to the normal bleachers, the park had a number of tables set out with an inordinate amount of craft sticks and hot glue guns.

More worryingly, there was a giant bullseye spray-painted onto the grass.

"Welcome back!" Anakin said, absolutely blustering past the part where last week he'd been 17 years old with a deeply regrettable haircut. "Today you will be building catapults out of craft sticks and glue! It must be capable of propelling a meter tall object towards that bullseye--" he pointed to the grass helpfully. "Whichever team comes closest to hitting the buillseye gets to keep the fish for the week. Do not tank on purpose just because you don't want the fish!"

He glared at everyone to make his displeasure known about that. "You have an hour and a half to work on and complete your design! Please listen for your name to know which group you belong to! Group One: Peter, Norman, Kitty, and Paris. Group Two: Hannibal, Liam, Astrid, and Kanan. Group Three: Sabine, Rosa, Jono, and Tip. Group Four: Zack, Ahsoka, Cristina, and Verity. Group Five: Steve, Bobby, Cara, and Miguel. Group Six: Sidon, Hera, Rey, Amaya, and Uma."

[OOC: EDITED TO ADD: There are also rubber bands, rope, buckets, cloth, macrame gremlin ensembles, and other moddable stuff hiding under the tables. I totally remembered. Really. Cough.]

Paris nodded again. "I don't think he's trying to set us a completely impossible task," she agreed. "So it's probably lighter than a boulder. But if we think boulder, we'll be able to shoot anything!"

Kitty figured that that was a good way to overbalance it, but... "Are we actually trying to win the fish?" she checked.

"I came home to that fish floating over my bed after work one day, screaming Beastie Boys, and I would like for that to never happen again please," Norman said with a wince. "Unless someone else really wants the fish. Then they can have it."

"But then we wouldn't win!" Paris said like that thought was unthinkable. "I want to be the first to win twice."

Peter sighed and looked at the setup dubiously. "Do you think we're allowed to use magic, or would that be cheating?"

It wasn't staying in his room, okay? Norman was having none of it.

"I don't really want to cheat for this," Kitty admitted. "I don't actually want that thing anywhere near me."

"Me neither." Peter shrugged at Paris. "Sorry. Looks like you're outvoted."

Paris looked very annoyed with all of them. "Fine," she huffed. "Don't suppose you all even know how to make a catapult?"

"I know how to man and help fire one," Peter said. Hey, medieval life experience coming in handy! "Never built one before, though." Or not.

"I think that's still more experience than the rest of us probably have," Norman hedged. He didn't know Kitty all that well beyond 'that beach class teacher,' and Paris...

... Was Paris.

"You'd at least know if it's wrong, right?"

"Do we need more than a base, a lever, and then something to hold whatever the thing we're shooting is?" Kitty asked. "Or maybe the slingshot route?"

"I like the slingshot idea," Paris offered. "That seems easier."

"A slingshot is pretty hard to mess up," Norman agreed, though he wasn't terribly sure they'd get bonus points for making something that wasn't technically a catapult or not. "And probably about as close to cheating as we can get away with, maybe?"
