Summer Games [Wednesday]

A fully grown Anakin Skywalker was back in his normal spot in the park, megaphone in hand. In addition to the normal bleachers, the park had a number of tables set out with an inordinate amount of craft sticks and hot glue guns.

More worryingly, there was a giant bullseye spray-painted onto the grass.

"Welcome back!" Anakin said, absolutely blustering past the part where last week he'd been 17 years old with a deeply regrettable haircut. "Today you will be building catapults out of craft sticks and glue! It must be capable of propelling a meter tall object towards that bullseye--" he pointed to the grass helpfully. "Whichever team comes closest to hitting the buillseye gets to keep the fish for the week. Do not tank on purpose just because you don't want the fish!"

He glared at everyone to make his displeasure known about that. "You have an hour and a half to work on and complete your design! Please listen for your name to know which group you belong to! Group One: Peter, Norman, Kitty, and Paris. Group Two: Hannibal, Liam, Astrid, and Kanan. Group Three: Sabine, Rosa, Jono, and Tip. Group Four: Zack, Ahsoka, Cristina, and Verity. Group Five: Steve, Bobby, Cara, and Miguel. Group Six: Sidon, Hera, Rey, Amaya, and Uma."

[OOC: EDITED TO ADD: There are also rubber bands, rope, buckets, cloth, macrame gremlin ensembles, and other moddable stuff hiding under the tables. I totally remembered. Really. Cough.]

"Sure," Steve said, holding up the popsicle sticks and looking dubious. "This seems doable."

"For values of 'doable' meaning 'really unlikely', sure," Miguel said helpfully. "If we made it as a big lever and put something heavy at the other end, would that count as a catapult?"
heroic_jawline: (neg: pull the other it's got bells on it)

Steve shrugged. "I think if it was supposed to be a super-specific definition, they would've provided blueprints, right?"

"Did Deadpool plan this one?" Cara asked as she picked up a stick and tossed it to Steve. "Trust me, you throwing whatever we're supposed to launch will work better."

Guess which member of the group had actually seen working siege engines close up.

"Build a mockup of a catapult around his arm?" Miguel suggested.

He wasn't going to point out he could also throw things far. Steve probably had better aim; that was his story and he was sticking to it.

"Not a fan of the ol' catapult, huh?" Steve replied, grinning.

"Throwing people at targets is a valid tactical choice," Bobby contributed.

"Only if you've got good aim," Miguel corrected. "Or if they can course-correct in the air."

He worked with Longshot and Sabertooth. There was a lot of throwing people.

"I've seen both happen," Steve offered.

This was totally the group that was going to be not at all surprised by a living catapultee, huh?

Hey, if the catapultee was up for it...

"Me too," Miguel agreed. "I've also seen it go bad a few times. But wait - are we firing a person? That could change the whole way we build the thing, if they can hold on."
