Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2018, Early Saturday Evening [Part 1]

As soon as the sun was down, everything was ready for the graduation ceremony to begin. The lawn of the school had been lit up with blue and gold lights, which reflected nicely off of the glitter scattered throughout the lawn. Yes, glitter was going to get all over everything, sorry.

There were chairs set up for all of the graduates, and plenty of seats for guests to come and watch. The weather was beautiful, cooling off after the hot, sunny day, and everything seemed quiet, calm, and normal. You know, for now.

Congratulations, Class of 2018! You made it to the end!

Kat sat down in the audience, a faint smile on her face. She'd never attended high school herself - her life hadn't allowed for it.

Dante might think that this was stupid, but she thought it was important. She laid one hand on top of the other, henna tattoos showing, and watched.

So, Ezra turned up. Guess he didn't have anything more pressing to be doing today than sitting in the audience of one of these things. If nothing else, he could idly scan the crowd for pretty new faces.

And, okay, pretty old faces, too.

Including the one person who might've found the shirt he was wearing to look a little familiar.

There had been...a change. A power shift. Temporary, of course, but Rick was willing to let it slide for the moment, even if letting it slide meant actually being dragged to his granddaughter's graduation.

Which happened to be on an interdimensional space-time continuum nexus unlike anything he'd ever seen before, which was saying a lot, but, sure, yeah, for all intents and purposes, he was here for Summer, right, definitely that.

So please, nobody mind the old man in the lab coat tinkering away at a weird little box that kept beeping like an obnoxious cell phone in a movie theater between long swigs from his flask.

Hey, there was no way in hell Kanan was missing this. Summer was one of his best friends, Rey was a sparring partner of his, he'd known Ahsoka, sort of, since they were both younger, and graduating? That was a big deal.

Probably. It wasn't like he'd ever done it before.

Anyway, he was here, ready to cheer people on and secretly just thankful he didn't have to wear a robe and mortarboard.

It was funny, Jono had gone from coming to these things to cheer on classmates to coming to these things to cheer on students and employees.

It was jarring, if he let himself think about it. Fortunately, he was pretty okay at not letting himself think about it. Instead he was going to just take a seat near the back, a scarf wrapped over the lower half of his face so as to not startle the normals should there actually be any, and resign himself to feeling vaguely old.

It had been seven years by Fandom's reckoning since he'd done this. Longer for him. That nonsense was simply not allowed.

Jaina liked having excuses/reasons to come back, so she was here, with two ten-month-olds who really didn't seem to want to be either here or in their stroller. They were going to get interesting when something attacked, she bet!

Sidon didn't know many of the seniors well; he didn't even know much about the concept of a graduation in this sense, but he was definitely interested, especially if the ceremony of it would help him get back into "Fandom Mode" after the long trip back home and some of the more...freshly opened wounds it had caused.

The excitement and the celebration felt like just the thing he needed to lift his spirits. He might not know the seniors very well, but he would certainly cheer for them as if he had!

Phèdre practically quivered in excitement, looking around avidly at, well, everything. Hyacinthe had told her about this place, but she'd dismissed most of them as the fanciful tales of the Prince of Travelers. But to be here, and seeing it all--

Terre D'Ange was still more beautiful by far, but there were so many interesting things to see. "Look at that device!" she chattered in D'Angeline, jostling Joscelin's arm. "The one boy that holding out! It's playing...music? I think that's music?"

Anasztaizia paid no attention to the squabbling next to her. She knew how that would end--would know even without the dromonde, having spent years watching people. She knew the heartache that would entail for her son--though less, now that he had experienced the wider world.

Her eyes were glued to the stage, this ceremony an honor she didn't understand but was pleased to have for him.

Ada looked around, trying to see if there was anyone in the audience that she recognized to sit with. Sure, she could sit by herself, or try to find Hya's mama, but she'd been back with the carnival long enough to be slightly skittish around groups of strangers outside the safety of her family.

Not skittish enough to hide her scales today, mind, but enough that she was keeping her sticky fingers to herself.

Norman was a little more quiet than usual today, but that didn't mean he wasn't going to show up. It wasn't every day your roommate graduated, after all!

... And it wasn't even because he was hoping he'd get the room to himself, soon. He actually wanted to cheer Mara on.

Peridot wasn't so much sitting in her seat as she was standing on it. It was a Shorty Squad thing.

Still, she was here, because there were people she actually liked (or at the very least was acquainted to) celebrating a landmark in their short organic lives. And... well... it would be her up there next year. She wanted to observe so she was certain she understood how this was done.

Since a few of the graduates had been in Amaya's class...and Summer's party supplies and gelatin orders had basically covered half the down payment in the new shop...the least she could do was show up to the graduation ceremony and cheer some of them on.

Especially since she figured this would be the first of many more of these she'd be coming around to as a proud teacher.

Hannibal was here to congratulate his students; there were actually one or two he cared about. He was smiling pleasantly at everyone regardless, though.

At the appropriate moment, there was Pomp and Circumstance, because tradition. It was time for the soon-to-be-graduates to make the last adjustments to their blue and gold robes, and get to walking to their seats.

Yeah, it was a good thing Summer was at the end of the procession, because that just meant she could try to fit in even more pictures for her pre-procession flurry of selfies.

Sure, school was dumb, but it was a life event. And she looked great in blue and gold.

It was weird, because none of this really meant anything to Rey, and did nothing for her going forward, but she was going through with this part anyway. And she felt silly being dressed like this.

But at least she'd accomplished something?
