Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2018, Early Saturday Evening [Part 1]

As soon as the sun was down, everything was ready for the graduation ceremony to begin. The lawn of the school had been lit up with blue and gold lights, which reflected nicely off of the glitter scattered throughout the lawn. Yes, glitter was going to get all over everything, sorry.

There were chairs set up for all of the graduates, and plenty of seats for guests to come and watch. The weather was beautiful, cooling off after the hot, sunny day, and everything seemed quiet, calm, and normal. You know, for now.

Congratulations, Class of 2018! You made it to the end!

This was just bloody weird. Dante was one of those students who had felt oddly like he wasn't quite a student from the get-go, a little too detached from 'normal student' things even by Fandom's standards, a little too well-versed in the real world to really have that 'shiny new student' feel about him. Hell, he'd been through a lot since he'd been that lad who hadn't trusted him for all the flame, had grown in ways that only Fandom could teach.

And he was a damn fine music shop employee besides.

So of course Jonothon was clapping a little extra loudly for Dante as he went up and took the diploma. He'd earned it.

Ada stuck two fingers in her mouth and gave a long, utterly ear-piercing whistle before cat-calling him.

You show affection your way, Ada will do it her way, thank you very much.

People were clapping, and so, too, was Peridot! Because she really had no idea how these things worked, and so she was just kind of going with the flow.

Ada just about fell over laughing when she realized what Isabela was doing. "Shoulda warned me," she teased. "I mighta joined you."

No, she wouldn't have, too many scales and too many strangers. But the thought counted.

Student Council just wouldn't have been the same without Dante and his fondness for pizza, so yes, he got a hearty round of applause from Eric.

Kathy couldn't help thinking about the talks they'd had as students together, how he'd been certain he would never survive long enough to take this walk down the stage. And there he was, handsome as ever, even in the ridiculous robes Fandom made them wear.

There might have been a little extra glitter in her eyes as she clapped and cheered for him, but she blinked that away and just catcalled louder.
