Library, Wednesday
Wow, the library was quiet today. Just eerily, completely silent. There wasn't even the occasional rustle of paper as somebody turned a page or a book got itself up to some mischief.
Peridot opened her mouth to announce that she didn't trust it. No sound came out at all.
She frowned at that, and then thumped her fists on the returns desk a few times with similar results.
And then, just to be sure, she opened a door and slammed it repeatedly, hoping for a different result.
This was going to just keep escalating. Don't even ask where she found that trumpet.
[OOC: Open! Quiet! But open!]

Peridot watched all of this with a faintly bemused expression on her face. And then held up her trumpet and gave it a blow that should have made a good, solid BLAT sound.
Nothing.
Then she held up a finger as if to demonstrate a 'one moment, please,' stepped out of the library through the door Sidon had just come in through, and tried again.
Oh yes, that BLAT was mighty.

"--eculiar!" his voice picked up once he'd crossed the threshold. "I came down here to speak with you about something, Peridot, so I suppose we must do it here in the hallway, or else we dedicate ourselves to written correspondence should we wish to remain in the confines of the library itself. How are you handling such a strange occurrence?"
no subject
"Quietly," Peridot muttered, lowering her trumpet and rolling her eyes. "The library is being the library again. I'm almost certain the books are doing something sneaky where I can't hear."
She didn't much trust the books.

Peridot leaned in close. Which, in this case, mostly involved standing up on her tiptoes so that she could whisper conspiratorially in the general direction of Sidon's knees.
"Book things."
no subject
"Well!" he said, "I certainly hope book things are good things! But speaking of planning, I was actually planning something, and I was rather curious if you might be interested in partaking. It's a trip," he teased, "to someplace...rather special."
no subject
"Special?"
See, that was a good way to get Peridot's attention. She stared up (up, up!) at him, wide-eyed.
"Where is this place?"
Really, trips weren't a hard sell for a Gem who wanted to learn everything possible.

He couldn't help grinning fondly down (and down and down!) at those wide-eyes. "Though, of course, if you don't think you'd want to, I'd understand."
no subject
"Ooo!" Peridot jumped from one foot to the other a few times excitedly. "No no no, I do! When do we leave? What should I bring? Should I bring something to take notes?"
Research! Learning! Yes!

She probably could. Odds were it would be a very confusing invention. But she had time to do it.
"Others?"
no subject
There was a faint, somewhat sad pause there, but he brightened back up quickly, with a particular sharpness to his grin and a bit of a playful wink.
"Naturally, though, you are the very first person I wanted to invite."
no subject
And she even liked most of them! That was very exciting!
"And naturally I'm the first. I am your sibling, after all!"
Well, so was Norman, but he was a little little sibling, which was less exciting.
