Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The forecasts had been calling for rain all week, so when it was time to get everything set up for the picnic and it was sunny and warm outside instead, well, that was hopefully a good sign of things to come.

There were tables set up all around the lawn of the school with blue and gold tableclothes and chairs, and the usual buffet of food (and ice cream!) was waiting for hungry folks to dig in. There was also a second table with nametags and lists to help the new people locate their siblings and roommates.

Once the food was ready and the tables were glittered, everything was set for a very pleasant picnic indeed.

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Look, it was a whole Teenage Angst thing that had to do with rebelling against his father's expectations in an incredibly attention-seeking manner.

"No," he shook his head. "That would be the Sheriff's Department. But he didn't exactly put up much of an argument."

"It was just a prank," Jason said, having the grace to look sheepish. "Everyone took it way too seriously."

It was probably more the high speed chase and subsequent horrific crash that had gotten him in serious trouble, but details.

Maybe it was! But Peridot wasn't exactly a teenager by any stretch of the imagination.

Peridot considered that for a moment, and then she smiled a little more broadly. In the grand scheme of things, calling Yellow Diamond a clod wasn't exactly her idea of a great time. But she appreciated the sentiment all the same.

"Yeah... yeah, we do," she decided. "We're Fandom's greatest partiers!"

"This is definitely not going to be as terrible as I thought it would," Jason grinned.

Maybe it was all the high-fiving from Mangus earlier, but he then held out a hand for Peridot to do a high five.

Hopefully she knew what one of those was! If not, well. Learning experience.

Sure, she had to reach a bit, but she was going to high-five Jason pretty enthusiastically all the same.

"It's pretty okay," she agreed. "You just have to get a feel for the place, and then it's just fine."
