Outdoor Adventure Time!, Tuesday, period 1

The students had been handwavily notified to dress for swimming and the meet up at Portalocity again.

"Well folks," Eliot said. "This is our last class of the session. So Parker'n I decided it was time for some slightly less structured fun." He led the way through the portal to the front gates of a large water park. "Welcome to Water Country USA!"

“We’ll be doing a class like this one again, next term,” Parker added. “I mean, the whole Outdoor Adventure class, not just waterslides. Although that would be pretty cool, you have to admit.”

"We'll even try not to repeat ourselves," Eliot said. "Alright, a couple ground rules: use sunscreen. The water's going to reflect all the UV rays right onto you and I don't want anyone to end up with sun poisoning. I'll be hanging out by the wave pool if anyone gets into trouble and needs an adult. Other than that, have fun, and we'll meet back up here when it's time to head back to Fandom."

“I’ll be on the Colossal Curl first, if anyone wants to be on my raft,” Parker said. “Let’s go!”

Well, Eliot was currently being a responsible adult by the wave pool, so his "too much fun" involved reading Aldo Leopold. But still.

"I didn't bring Val along to class today," Kathy said, pausing a moment between waterslides. "Can we meet up this afternoon so I can give her back to you?"

Why no, she wasn't planning on a few extra hours of puppy snuggles, why would you even ask that?

Of course not! It wasn't as if Val wasn't extra snuggleable or anything.

"Sounds fair," Eliot said. "They probably wouldn'ta let her in here, anyway. I take it the weekend went well?"

Kathy's dopey smile probably answered that well enough. "Val is just the cutest," she said, doing her best not to start cooing and talking in baby talk. "We got to chase things in the park and play on the beach and practiced basic commands...She wasn't fond of her bath on Sunday, but between the sand and the salt in her fur, she needed it."

She'd turned into some kind of tiny beach elemental. And, yes, Kathy had a ridiculous number of pictures.

Eliot snorted. "Yeah, she loves the water, so long as she's the one in charge of when she goes in and out. I got that autograph for ya, by the way. I'll pass it along when we meet up, later. Didn't want to risk it gettin' chlorinated around here."

Kathy's jaw dropped. "Wait, you did? You really did? Thank you so much! It wasn't too expensive or anything, was it?"

Silly Kathy, still thinking Eliot stood in line and paid for her autograph.

It was cute how people expected the Leverage team to actually use money for things like autographs and software and -- well, anything at all, when it came to Parker.

"Nah, it was no trouble at all. Happened to run into her backstage."

After a somewhat involved con to get them backstage that had resulted in Eliot signing a few autographs of his own. You know, like normal people did.

Kathy's surprised expression wasn't going anywhere, apparently. "How did you get backstage at the CMAs?!?!"

"I may or may not have an alter-ego who's a country singer," Eliot confessed.

"What are you reading?" Parker was now sitting next to Eliot, putting on more sunscreen while she re-hydrated. "And are you going to date Kaye Lynn again?"

Eliot tilted his book to show her the cover, then blinked. "What? Parker, I never dated her in the first place."

A fling in the back room of a bar wasn't dating.

"What's it about?" Kidnappings? Ransoms? "...you kissed her. You had sex with her." She was pretty sure. "I'm not prying just to be nosy. I'm curious about if she'll visit here or anything."

"Yes," Eliot said. "We had a lot of fun while we were doin' it, too. But that's not dating."

Dating was what happened when you did those things more than a couple times. Probably.

"And hell no. For all I know, she'd spend the night and wake up a man the next day."

"That might work out well for some people," Parker pointed out. "I'm not sure Kaye Lynn's one of them... So you're not going to date her?" Hmm. "...would you still date me if I was a guy?"

Eliot set his book (which had nothing to do with kidnappings or ransoms, Parker would not approve) aside and leaned forward. "What's this about, darlin'?"

Parker squirmed. "Nothing," she said, but that was too close to just lying, and you couldn't lie to your team. "Something. I... dunno."

Parker was pretty much hitting every thrilling ride ever, after making sure she had enough sunblock on.

"Which is the fastest?" Jalian asked.

Parker seemed like the one who would know.

"Ooooo, tough question!" Parker's smile grew wider. "So, the top three are the Jet Scream, Nitro Racer, and the Vanishing Point. Vanish Point has a seven-story almost-freefall drop. The Jet Scream is the fastest for the longest amount of time--but the Nitro Racer is the fastest overall, it's just not for very long." She bounced on her toes. "I'd go for Vanish Point and then Jet Scream, to see which one has speed for the most distance."

"On your stomach, or on your back, or sitting up," Parker clarified. "Some of them they tell you which way is fastest, but of course, if they don't see you ignoring them..."

Ahem. Parker was a terrible role model.

"How you hold your body and how small you make yourself makes you go faster."

"Aerodynamics." Jalian nodded. "It could be fun," she allowed. "It would be more fun with obstacles, though."

Jalian chose great role models.

"Well some of the ones on the Colossal Curl let you steer the raft up higher on the tube, so you can get more speed," Parker said with enthusiasm. "You need four people for those rafts, but that wouldn't be hard to get. And some of them go through tunnels, so it's dark and you have to try to steer more without looking if you want more speed!"

"That sounds like more fun!" Jalian grinned. "That's what you're doing first?" Surely there were two more people in the class who wanted a bit of fun.
