"Good morning," Rita said, barely glancing up. "Today is a free study period. Your midterm is the Tuesday after next. I suggest you use this hour to go over your notes and ask any questions you may have."

John kind of grins. "Apple of my eye, pie in the sky? Did Wilbur bake you pies?"

Rita waved her wand, and with that, John was a small, somewhat ridiculous-looking birdie.

Of course...this means war.

John realizes he has wings two seconds after he realizes he's been changed. He immediately started flying towards Professor Skeeter's hair.

Rita sighed, and waved her wand.

Uh oh. John's wings? Not so big anymore. Probably not big enough to carry his weight, even.

John tumbles very gracefully to the floor, hitting the floor with the solid thump.

He tries to flap his wings...and fails. He tries to fly high in the sky, to have some wind beneath his wings...and fails.

So, he sits on the floor and hopes someone draws him up from the weeds.

"Be brave like a soldier," Rory said, offering him a gummi worm and snapping a picture, because YAY AERYN.

John hears the word Aeryn and chirps. Yeah, they're not getting along so well but he still loves her.

And he totally takes the gummi worm and devours it.

If John could talk...okay, he can't talk so he totally just flaps his wee wings and kind of fly/stutter steps over to land on Rory's shoe.

"So wee!" Rory said, reaching down and sort of petting his little head. "Such a wee, strange-looking birdie."

She wasn't sure if Aeryn's email was working yet or not, so she just held onto the pictures.

John had beans for lunch...

He looks up at Rory to try and warn her!

Rory thought that perhaps Rita looked like she might want to play with the wee birdie.

"You should go visit with Professor Skeeter," she said, sort of shooing him in her direction.

John flutters over to Professor Skeeter's shoe and sits daintily on it.

His stomach kinda gurgles.

John made a mess a wee Puffin mess of Rita's shoes before getting kicked away...

John chirps in agreement. And then he looks pitiful and cuddles into Rory's hand and closes his Puffin eyes.
