BWI Portalocity Lounge | Saturday Morning
One of the very few perks of having a meteorologist for a mother was that Amy could almost always avoid weather-related flight delays by relying on her mom for information. That was usually very convenient, but today it meant that due to anticipated late morning storms in northern Texas, Amy had been forced to fly in at ass o'clock in the morning so that she wouldn't run the risk of missing the bus to school. So it looked like she was the first person to reach the Fandom High banner in the airport lounge, and while Amy had always had hopes of one day winning a race, this wasn't quite what she had had in mind.
Armed with an overstuffed duffel bag and her favorite pair of sweatpants (they were decorated with little cartoon strips of bacon!), Amy stifled a heavy yawn and parked herself in a distant corner of the lounge where she could wait for more people to show up.

Wait for the Shuttle
Re: Wait for the Shuttle
"Maker!"
Re: Wait for the Shuttle
"Uh," Amy began, wondering if this was some kind of exhaustion-induced hallucination or something. "Hey there?"
Re: Wait for the Shuttle
... Please excuse her, it'd been an odd couple of minutes.

Not seeing anything was puzzling, but not terribly worrying. The sword, on the other hand....
"Where did you come from?" she asked, keeping her hands free to reach for her own concealed weapons.
Re: Wait for the Shuttle
Her tone implied there had better be an answer forthcoming.

"Are you a knight?" she asked. It seemed like a reasonable question.
Re: Wait for the Shuttle
"Yes," she said. Well, in a manner of speaking. "Or so I will be."
She looked right on back at Anna, studying her. No staff, no other signs that she was any more a mage than the other girls had been. "Who are you?"
She had cooled some, but not yet to the point of sounding friendly to anyone. (That might take weeks.)

She entered the lounge and silently reviewed the people there and the seating arrangements before electing to stand near the entrance like some kind of solemn sentry in a woman's business suit.
Re: Wait for the Shuttle
More to make sure she was in the right place. This woman seemed a little too sharply dressed to be a high school teacher, and despite the banner, Amy still wasn't confident this was where she needed to be. (Thanks, Cassandra.)
Re: Wait for the Shuttle
She then glanced at Amy's sweatpants.
"Will you be changing before we leave?"

It was the suit, mostly. And the posture.
Re: Wait for the Shuttle
Which could be confused with "staring" really.

"You're not a student here, are you?" she asked. "Because you seem older. Not old! Just older, than, like, us. Maybe some students are older! Was that rude?"
Re: Wait for the Shuttle
"I am not a student," Jones replied evenly. "I am a new instructor at the school and will be traveling with you via the shuttle. I am Jones."

The sign for the bus caught her eye, and she stopped, tilting her head to study those waiting.
Re: Wait for the Shuttle
"Hey," she said, peering in Hanna's direction. "Are you looking for the boarding school bus? Because I think it's here."
Re: Wait for the Shuttle
She could hide alone, in the wilderness-- or maybe in a crowd of other young people?

"Are you waiting for the bus, too?" she asked. "I've never actually been on a bus. Or those weird ... purple things that got me here. Still not ... sure what that was about!"
Re: Wait for the Shuttle
All in the last two days, let's be honest.
"Purple things?"

She was dragging two large trunks behind her, because she had been thoroughly and completely unable to decide what to pack, because she'd never actually left the castle before. This was exciting. This was an adventure. This was -- probably something she should have thought about before she started lugging gigantic trunks all over the BWI Lounge.
No matter! She was here, and she was going to make friends. All of the friends. All of the friends, ever.
Re: Wait for the Shuttle
Sorry about the language, Anna? Amy, that was no way to talk to a Disney princess.

She dropped her duffel bag on the ground by the shuttle stop and leaned back against the wall, checking out the other students. Some of them were cute, at least.
Re: Wait for the Shuttle
Maybe it was a dumb question with the glittery banner and everything, but seriously, there were people in armor here.
