Self-Expression- Monday- 4th period

Class was in the Danger Shop today, which was done up to look like a small gym. Kitty had figured that there would be more than enough room, plus anyone who had to deal with small children could take them off to the side if there were any problems.

With her was Lexi, who looked really pretty excited about being in class. "Hey, everyone," Kitty said. "Once again the usual plan got thrown out because of Fandom, but that's okay. For anyone new in here, I'm Kitty and this is Lexi, and today we're going to work on self-expression through a dance party. Yes, you have to. Don't be shy, we're here to have fun today."

And then she hit play on the totally safe, kid-friendly pop music and you all were just going to have to deal with it.

"I consider it dancing only because it's the very least effort I can put forth and still call it thus," Celia corrected with a slight smile. "You weren't blessed with any little ones this weekend?"

Note the way Celia was palpably relieved to have Margaret distracted. 'Blessed' indeed.

"I wasn't," he said, shaking his head. "I'd feel like I missed out if you didn't look like you were about lay down right here and take a nap."

"I was a much, much quieter child," she said, shaking her head. "I'm not wholly convinced she's mine for a multitude of reasons, that being one." The fact that Margaret looked just like her was being studiously ignored, of course. "No one warned me that biologically-impossible strange children would show up and call me their mother."

"No one warned me either," Will said with a quiet laugh. "And I don't know if I'd have believed them anyway. Changing my identity for a weekend didn't seem implausible but showing me completely new people?"

He shook his head.

"Is she a good kid, at least?"

"I suppose," Celia said carefully. "I don't have much exposure to children, but she doesn't seem especially bad, at least. And she's like me," she added, wiggling her fingers to indicate what she meant. "So if she really is mine, I imagine I don't want to see her bad side, anyway, or I'll have a mess to clean up." Magic tantrums were the best, really.

"Do you, uh, know who her dad is?" Will wondered, glancing over at her dancing kid. She was a far better dancer than he was. More energetic, at least. "Or is that too personal? Sorry."

Re: Dance party!

[identity profile] pasunereveuse.livejournal.com 2014-02-17 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's not too personal," Celia assured him. "I wish I had a clue at all. It's not as though there are any likely candidates for fatherhood vying for my time anyway, and she won't give me a name beyond 'Daddy.' Impossible."

She rolled her eyes in frustration. "I wonder if it's somehow tied to Valentine's Day -- the timing seems awfully coincidental." She blushed, remembering her manners, and added, "Thank you for the flowers, by the way."

"Oh. Uh." Well, she wouldn't be alone in her blushing now. "You're welcome. I'm glad you liked them. They looked pretty and you're -- "

Well. He gestured with his hand awkwardly.

"Nice." Yeah. "Sorry you're dealing with a difficult situation."

"They are pretty," Celia said with a small smile, watching him. "I haven't let Margaret play with them, despite her begging. She destroyed the carnations my roommate sent, already and I like your flowers too much to risk the same." Though to be fair, those had been in Celia's hair the night before. "Did you go to the dance? I didn't see you, but I spent most of it hiding, honestly."

"I was there, yeah," he said, nodding. "I didn't do much besides hang out by the food table and listen to music. Why were you hiding?"

"Because this is what I consider dancing," Celia joked, shuffling a bit half-heartedly. "Plus I was wearing...modern clothes. I'm still getting used to that." As was evidenced by how she was back in a bustle today. "I'll have to find you at the next one so I won't be alone in my not-dancing dancing."

"Well, we're in the middle of a mini dance right now," he said, glancing around and snickering. "We can not dance-dance...together."

He made a face at that. "I mean, around each other."

[identity profile] pasunereveuse.livejournal.com 2014-02-17 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"I wouldn't mind dancing together if it weren't so...bouncy," Celia said, wincing a bit. Because that sounded intelligent, didn't it? "I can...waltz. I have no idea how to dance to this in the first place."

She glanced over at her supposed child and her flailing limbs. "I guess that she has the right idea, actually."

Re: Dance party!

[identity profile] livebytherules.livejournal.com 2014-02-17 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"I think this is only meant for that kind of dancing," he said, nodding at Celia's daughter. "Which I think might give me a headache if I tried. I can't even waltz."

"It's just counting. I could teach you," Celia said, watching Margaret. "But I think if I danced like that, I'd simultaneously split all my laces and pull a muscle. And then I'd need a nap."

An extended nap. She was going to sleep for the next day, once Margaret was gone.

"You might be dooming your feet if you wanna teach me to dance," Will said with a little laugh. "I don't think my capabilities can help me there."

Re: Dance party!

[identity profile] pasunereveuse.livejournal.com 2014-02-17 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"First of all, you don't know that," Celia pointed out. "And more importantly, even if your abilities won't help you, mine will. You can step on my feet all day, and I can just fix them. Or I'll magically reinforce my shoes. And besides, I doubt you're that bad a dancer."

Re: Dance party!

[identity profile] livebytherules.livejournal.com 2014-02-17 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, but I don't want to be the cause of you having to fix your feet," he said, wincing at that. "That just sounds painful."

Re: Dance party!

[identity profile] pasunereveuse.livejournal.com 2014-02-17 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"Then let's call that a last measure," Celia said. "For use only if you prove me dead wrong and are truly as terrible on your feet as you've said. You're doing fine now!"

With the vague shuffling.

"I'm barely moving," Will pointed out. "A statue would be moving more than I am right now."

Re: Dance party!

[identity profile] pasunereveuse.livejournal.com 2014-02-17 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"And look at you not injuring anyone with your statue-like dancing," Celia pointed out, smiling. "It's all right. I'd rather keep dancing like this than waltz, anyway. I'm sure dancing -- of any kind -- is fun with the right partner, but I've yet to find one I like enough to do it willingly."

Re: Dance party!

[identity profile] livebytherules.livejournal.com 2014-02-17 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Will tucked his hands into his pockets which meant he moved a little more so hey, success. After that, he kind of stopped moving again.

"I'm sure you'll find someone you like enough to dance with," he said, smiling a bit. "Maybe even before the next dance."

[identity profile] pasunereveuse.livejournal.com 2014-02-17 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"We'll see," she said, eyeing him. "I think it's far more likely that I'll end up in another dress that makes me look foolish and hiding in another corner. Or by the food table, since it sounds like there was better company over there, this past time."

Re: Dance party!

[identity profile] livebytherules.livejournal.com 2014-02-17 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Will blushed a little again and hid a laugh by looking down at his feet.

"I doubt you looked foolish," he told her with a shake of his head. "I mean, you're pretty. You know that, right?"

Re: Dance party!

[identity profile] pasunereveuse.livejournal.com 2014-02-17 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Celia was kind of staring with her mouth slightly open, at that. So...no, not so pretty at the moment.

She caught herself quickly, though. "Um. No. I mean, no one...tells me that. Ever. Thank you." And here she'd thought she'd hit her capacity for blushing already.
