Self-Expression- Monday- 4th period

Class was in the Danger Shop today, which was done up to look like a small gym. Kitty had figured that there would be more than enough room, plus anyone who had to deal with small children could take them off to the side if there were any problems.

With her was Lexi, who looked really pretty excited about being in class. "Hey, everyone," Kitty said. "Once again the usual plan got thrown out because of Fandom, but that's okay. For anyone new in here, I'm Kitty and this is Lexi, and today we're going to work on self-expression through a dance party. Yes, you have to. Don't be shy, we're here to have fun today."

And then she hit play on the totally safe, kid-friendly pop music and you all were just going to have to deal with it.

Lexi had zero shame about this sort of thing, so she was happily bouncing around to the music. Someone apparently took after their mom on this one.

Will...wasn't going to really dance if he could help it. He didn't have any children to entertain so he'd just stand there and occasionally step from foot to foot to at least do some moving.

Dominic wasn't really in a dancing frame of mind as he shuffled over to Kitty.

"So this is going to sound insane but go with it," he began. "Apparently I'm here instead of some girl named Bay. It makes my head hurt."

"I don't know," Dominic said. He'd been kind of hoping Kitty would, to be honest: She seemed like she usually understood weird stuff. "Like, all my friends from here -- and I guess my teachers -- remember her and not me. I thought it was a weekend thing, but ..."

He glanced over to Lexi.

"Maybe I'll get to go home when the kids do."

Celia Bowen (and Margaret)

Much as she had at the actual dance, Celia was going to stick to the wall for this one, thank you.

The six year-old tugging on her hand had other ideas, of course. "Mama, dance! Mama, the music is loud!" And unlike Celia, she viewed that as the best part.

So despite the fact that she was dressed like a miniature version of her mother, with shiny little patent shoes and stockings and a really stiff crinoline, Margaret was already dancing like a crazy little kid who'd grown up with music like this.

"...you do all the dancing for both of us, all right?" Celia said warily, already feeling her headache blossoming again.

She still wasn't convinced this was her daughter, anyway. They didn't even share a surname -- she'd managed to get Margaret's full name out of her yesterday, but the name 'Alisdair' meant nothing to her, and she still couldn't get a father's name beyond 'Daddy.' Lovely.

"You dance like I do," an exhausted-looking Celia remarked, shuffling over while her exuberant little daughter (supposedly) was busy flailing her limbs in some kind of child-dance. "Reluctantly."

"At least you consider this dancing," Will snickered, smiling at her. "Most people would consider this standing here with an occasional muscle twitch that causes movement."

"I consider it dancing only because it's the very least effort I can put forth and still call it thus," Celia corrected with a slight smile. "You weren't blessed with any little ones this weekend?"

Note the way Celia was palpably relieved to have Margaret distracted. 'Blessed' indeed.

"I wasn't," he said, shaking his head. "I'd feel like I missed out if you didn't look like you were about lay down right here and take a nap."

"Yeah," Dominic said. "I mean, I don't know how long Bay was here, but I've been here over a year as far as I know."

"I was a much, much quieter child," she said, shaking her head. "I'm not wholly convinced she's mine for a multitude of reasons, that being one." The fact that Margaret looked just like her was being studiously ignored, of course. "No one warned me that biologically-impossible strange children would show up and call me their mother."

"No one warned me either," Will said with a quiet laugh. "And I don't know if I'd have believed them anyway. Changing my identity for a weekend didn't seem implausible but showing me completely new people?"

He shook his head.

"Is she a good kid, at least?"
