"There is a saying on this planet that before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes and that way you're a mile away and have their shoes," Anakin began, holding a piece of paper in his hands.

Do you have a bad feeling about this class? Do you?

"In that spirit, I have paired each of you up with a classmate. Your assignment over the next week is to spend two days together, one for each student. You'll show how you live, what you're studying and what you do with your spare time in an effort to foster understanding of the various cultures and backgrounds that are pushed together here in Fandom. Your other teachers have been given notification of this assignment as well, so don't worry about interrupting their classes with your new shadows."

He glanced at the paper. "There are 17 of you in this class , which means that the odd person out is paired with me. Congratulations, Ulrik, that's you."

Hope you enjoy children, Ulrik...

"The rest of you, please listen for your names, then go meet up with your new friend." Because he knew how Fandom students could be, he added, "Actually wearing their shoes is not necessary."

Anakin then read off the following pairs because the RNG is cruel:

Huh... new friend? Yeah, Sparkle could handle that. Just so long as he didn't, like, actually try to take his shoes or anything. Then Sparkle would have to punch him.

It couldn't possibly be as bad as the Brownies that Prof McCorrigan had sent his class home with, that one time. Probably.

Jim scratched his cheek and tried to figure out how he exactly felt about this. He liked people, sure, but he didn't tend to want someone around him constantly.

"Huh." That was how he felt right now.

Anakin sighed, slumped into his seat, and moodily just hoped this didn't mean anyone would be messing up any of his mechanical projects.

He wasn't thrilled about the idea of having anyone follow him around all day. Well, he was used to it with Tahiri, anyway, but he'd complained about that a lot at first too. So.

The idea of walking around with a human shadow for the next few days made Alec inexplicably concerned, so he wasn't exactly disappointed when his partner's name was called and there didn't seem to be anyone here by that name.

It was kind of a relief, actually.

Oh, huh. Jim was that guy who hadn't really known what to make of the cats and dogs that one time, right? Sparkle considered that for a moment, and then shrugged.

If this ended in disaster, he supposed, odds were it would be because they'd both found a way to get themselves arrested or something. Probably.

Chaz eyed Bucky and calculated the odds of surviving a dive out the window. "So...when do you have time this week?" He finally decided the concussion was not worth it.

As it happened, he was quite all right with children. It was hard not to be, with the sheer number of younger siblings he had. "So how shall we make this work, then?" he asked, approaching Anakin.
