All Across the Island, Sunday Morning through Afternoon

The time for a final strike had finally arrived. The prisoners of detention had been freed, powers and abilities had been returned, and all that remained was Umbridge, and her still-faithful Loyalists.

It was time to pick a side, and bring Umbridge's reign to an end.

"I am what I was meant to be," Raven said. "Trigon's daughter and heir to his power. I will go to his side and worlds will fall before us."

So...not nice happy plans, no.

Not Umbridge, then. That was sort of good. "You were meant to be? You totally just sound like you're in someone else's power now. You don't sound like a demon with any ability to stand on her own, let alone inherit worlds."

Well, taunting was apparently a habit easily picked back up after years of brainwashing.

Raven laughed. "You know nothing of who or what I am. I have no quarrel here yet. Do not provoke one, or you and yours will regret it."

She wasn't entirely sure what Momoko was capable of, but she wasn't going to let her stop her.

Momoko reached for her compact and held it gently. She was even wearing her old ring to activate it. "I don't want to quarrel with you either. I want to stop you from hurting anyone else."

"I have not caused harm to anyone since I became myself again," Raven pointed out. "In fact, I even freed one of your own from Umbridge's control."

Admittedly, she hadn't done it for altruistic reasons, but still.

Momoko shouldn't do it. She should transform and do her best to take Raven down. A demon was a demon, right?

"I still don't know if you're really you or not. My White Light was created because a demon needed to be sealed. And even though my powers tell me you're a demon right now, they never said that before. Not even when I was Resistance."

She reset the compact in her belt, giving Raven a very sincere look. "If you don't leave, I'll find you."

"This is what I have always been," Raven said. "What I was meant to be. I have no plans to stay. Once Umbridge is dealt with, I will leave."

She might come back some day, since there was great power in Fandom, but she wasn't going to mention that.

"It's not. You're not who I remember." Raven kind of made an impression, even before.

Momoko kept her hand near her Power compact. She wasn't sure she could take Raven but she would definitely try. "You were so different before. Why?"

"You mean that weak, pathetic creature I was before?" Raven said, laughing again. "Umbridge's magics prevented me from realizing my true form. I was trapped in madness, caught between what I am and what I pretended to be. Human." She spat the last word.

Momoko could understand and sympathize with the 'trapped in madness' by magic part.

"Being human doesn't mean you're weak. That you think it, worries me."

"I was born to be my father's heir," Raven said, flexing her fingers and letting red power crackle between them. "To join my power with his and open the pathways between worlds so that they might fall before him. For years I was kept from my destiny, foolishly believing I should fight it. But now I am free, and ironically I have Umbridge to thank for that." And, well, the Hulk, since his rage had given her enough power to break the bonds of the Imperio.

Impressive, that red crackle. Really impressive, and Momoko reached for her compact. She took a second to transform, letting the White Light crackle and surround her longer than usual so that Raven could actually see it.

"You were born to be Raven," Blossom replied. "To be your own person. What you do as Raven, that's your responsibility. Your choice. You can't blame anyone but yourself for your choices."

That demonstration of power got Raven's attention; she was still injured and healing, and she didn't want to underestimate Momoko and get herself in trouble before she could get off this forsaken island.

"I am my father's daughter," she said. "That is my choice. That is what I want."

Blossom folded her arms, floating only enough to maintain eye-contact. "If that's what you want, then why did it take you this long to become..." she waved a hand at Raven. "this...?"

"Because Umbridge's spell prevented me from embracing my true power," Raven said. "But her puny magics cannot affect me now, if she still lives after all this." She gestured about them to the noises of fighting in the distance.

"So Umbridge is stronger than you? Than your 'true powers'?"

Raven's eyes flashed red. "No," she snapped. "My human blood made me weak. It struggled to bind me even in its madness. It aided Umbridge in keeping me prisoner. And that will never happen again."

Momoko thought about that for a moment, so very confused. Her own be-spelling had been against her will and she hadn't been able to struggle in either direction. "So you wanted to be stopped? To not be who you are now? You wanted that so bad you stayed spelled?!"

The demon had chafed against her chains, but she'd had to fight herself as well, and it wasn't a battle she'd been able to win until absorbing the Hulk's rage. The fact it had been such a struggle caused no small amount of humiliation for one who was supposed to be Pride.

"I did not want it," she seethed. "The fragments of my soul hindered me. But that is no longer a concern."

Blossom paced in the air, still confused. "But you just said you tried to bind yourself. So some part of you doesn't want to be you."

"I said that part of me is gone," Raven snarled, denying that anything could be left of her former self to herself as much as to Blossom. "I am truly the daughter of Trigon the Terrible now. The Earth will submit to us, and hundreds of worlds after it."

"You can't just get rid of a part of you. People don't work like that." In Momoko's world, that was how monsters were created actually, by the Black Light bringing out the bad stuff.

Which, was it possible that was a similar case here? That something had made Raven this way? "And you and your father taking over the Earth is not going to happen."

Raven laughed. "I am not people," she said. "I am a demon. I have shed my human shell as a snake sheds its skin. And nothing can stop me now, not you, not anyone."

Blossom didn't laugh. "No matter what you look like, you can't be a demon if you have human inside you. You're half-demon, at best. I've fought a true demon before. And won."

... with a team and lots of science and tech help and almost dying, but they'd won!

"Not a demon like me," Raven warned. She didn't want a fight yet; she was still healing and becoming accustomed to her new form. But her Pride wouldn't let her back down, either.

"My human half is dead, destroyed by the pain and suffering Umbridge inflicted upon her. There is nothing of it left."
