All Across the Island, Sunday Morning through Afternoon

The time for a final strike had finally arrived. The prisoners of detention had been freed, powers and abilities had been returned, and all that remained was Umbridge, and her still-faithful Loyalists.

It was time to pick a side, and bring Umbridge's reign to an end.

"I said that part of me is gone," Raven snarled, denying that anything could be left of her former self to herself as much as to Blossom. "I am truly the daughter of Trigon the Terrible now. The Earth will submit to us, and hundreds of worlds after it."

"You can't just get rid of a part of you. People don't work like that." In Momoko's world, that was how monsters were created actually, by the Black Light bringing out the bad stuff.

Which, was it possible that was a similar case here? That something had made Raven this way? "And you and your father taking over the Earth is not going to happen."

Raven laughed. "I am not people," she said. "I am a demon. I have shed my human shell as a snake sheds its skin. And nothing can stop me now, not you, not anyone."

Blossom didn't laugh. "No matter what you look like, you can't be a demon if you have human inside you. You're half-demon, at best. I've fought a true demon before. And won."

... with a team and lots of science and tech help and almost dying, but they'd won!

"Not a demon like me," Raven warned. She didn't want a fight yet; she was still healing and becoming accustomed to her new form. But her Pride wouldn't let her back down, either.

"My human half is dead, destroyed by the pain and suffering Umbridge inflicted upon her. There is nothing of it left."

That... that...

"She's not dead!!!!" It hurt like nothing else ever, but it didn't kill you. That was the worst part. "She's not!! She... she may be broken and need lots of time to heal, but not dead."

"There will be no healing," Raven said. She would make certain of it. If any spark of humanity remained within her, she would drench it in blood and violence until it was quenched. "That part of my life is over, and my destiny now awaits."

"You can't stop it." Blossom took a breath, trying to calm herself back down. "It's what humans do. We heal. It hurts and hurts and we want to die to make it stop, but all we do is heal."

"You have an over-abundance of faith," Raven sneered, though Momoko's words worried her a little bit, not that she'd let it show. If her human soul wasn't destroyed, she'd make damn sure it wouldn't hinder her in the future. She refused to let it make her weak. She was Trigon's daughter and meant for destruction and conquest.

"I have to have faith. I spent a long time under Umbridge's spells as well. We have that in common."

"They why are you not fighting her now?" Raven said, studying Momoko. "Do you not desire vengeance? To make her pay for everything she did to you and those you care for? For all the suffering she caused?"

Oh sure, Raven. Ask the hard questions.

"Desire it? No. What good... Will it change what I've done, what she's done?"

...

"Will it bring them back?" Blossom paled and shook her head. "I fight to save people. Right now, everyone is fighting to end-- I was a part of this, I don't belong in this fight."

"It will not change anything," Raven admitted, since she didn't have any idea what was going on to change things back.

She closed her eyes for a minute, breathing in the tendrils of hatred and vengeance that were spinning around the island. "But it is so satisfying. There is so much rage here now. So much pain. It is a feast for me."

Blossom, on the other hand, simply felt cold. "It's been there all the time. It always has been." She cocked her head to the side, considering again the aura she could sense around Raven now. "But then, I think you always knew that. That's how powerful you were."

"It hurt me before," Raven agreed. The suffering had long been there; she'd just shrank from it. "I could feel it, but I feared it."

She smiled, baring sharp teeth. "But now I revel in it."

"Feared it?" Momoko felt like she had a handful of pieces but no idea what the puzzle was supposed to look like. "Someone as 'powerful' as you?"

"My human half hindered me," Raven said, her scornful tone directed at herself. "Poor sweet Raven, resisting her destiny. Resisting what she truly was."

"Then I'll say it again, she was more powerful than you," Momoko nodded. "Why was she resisting? If she could tap into your power as well, she could have done many things to help others."

"She was weak!" Raven snarled, letting her anger become almost tangible. She wanted Momoko to feel it. "Weak and a coward. To tap into her true power meant destroying her soul. And no guarantee that I would help. On the contrary, those trapped in detention would have continued to feed me. They already were, as much as I could reach them."

And feel it, she did. Floating in midair, Momoko sank back slightly as she felt the brush of Raven's anger. That actually irritated her enough to make her fly closer. "Not weak. She was strong enough to keep you down. Not destroyed or you wouldn't care so much, be so angry."

"I don't care how much power you have, you know. Fighting evil is what I do. I wasn't able to for so long, but I'm back now."

"If you fight me, I will destroy you," Raven threatened. "Do not think that there is any mercy left in me. That has been burned away."

Blossom doubted that; her faith totally based on the fact that Raven hadn't been evil before. Or, at least not this kind of evil, not demonic.

But she hadn't fought a demon since she was thirteen, and hadn't fought at all since Umbridge spelled her.

"I'm tired in more ways than one, old friend. I don't want to fight you and I have no reason to; where I'm from, just being evil or even talking about it... that's not a reason to do anything to them."

But because Blossom was an honest girl: "If you hurt anyone, or cause any trouble, Raven, I will take you down. Don't think I won't. It's who I am."

Raven twitched a little at "old friend," but she covered it with another sneer.

"It may come to that, if my father wishes this world or yours," she said. "And we shall see who is the stronger then."

"Any world." Blossom wasn't going to turn her back on Raven, but she did float a small bit backwards. "Any world I hear is in danger, I will go to. And not just because it's you. You're not the worst these worlds have to offer; remember that, okay?"

Blossom was wondering if Raven should become her personal arch villain. She really didn't want to see her hurt and not everyone understood what they'd been through. How that could change a person... could make a person want to give in.

"You have not seen me at my worst, old friend," Raven said. "You would be wise not to underestimate me. A thousand worlds have fallen before my father's might, and when I am at his side, a thousand more will fall. Starting with the Earth of my mother's birth."
