Kicking Ass, Teamwork Style (Wednesday, Period 2, Week 2)

Messages had been sent out to all the students to wear comfortable clothes for activity today, and by the way, that should be the dress standard for the rest of the session because duh. (Okay, the message hadn't actually said 'because duh.' Not in the final draft.)

When they arrived today, they'd find the Danger Shop set up as a military obstacle course. Hey, it was the same one Kennedy made the junior Slayers run whenever she got to supervise a training session, okay?

...no sign of Kennedy, though. Pinned to the low wall that made up the first obstacle on the course was a hastily scrawled note:

Sorry. Unexpected demon-related crisis at home. Your assignment: GET EVERYONE ALL THE WAY THROUGH THIS. Remember it's not a competition. Someone needs help with part of it, you help them. Teamwork, remember?

- Kennedy

Well then.

It was a little wall! Evan was pretty sure that everyone in the class was capable of this one, so he was up and over and running to the next obstacle with only a brief glance back to make sure his classmates were handling it okay.

He didn't even need to use powers for that one! Between Uncle Cluster's training and Headmaster Logan's 'Fighting With Fighting' class, this sort of thing was pretty much second nature.

The wall was easy, but Mercy lingered a little to see if anyone needed a hand.

And this part actually looked pretty fun! Evan was grinning as he took the pedestals, one-two-three, all the way across, and then waited at the other side for a moment to see if anyone else was struggling.

Not bad. She almost slipped once, looking back to see if anyone was having a problem, but caught herself before it was a problem. Yay for faster than mere human speed? Hopefully, no one had noticed.

Evan was actually kind of made to wriggle over and under this sort of thing. Between being kind of tiny, and kind of noodly? No problem! It was kind of like climbing a gate and then ducking barbed wire or something, just in really fast succession.

This would have been really fun in coyote form. She wondered idly as she checked for anyone needing help, if she might be able to try it that way sometime.

Evan was also not above crawling, and it wasn't as though he was afraid of the dark. He was down on his hands and knees and making his way through the tunnel, heading merrily toward the light on the other end.

Definitely would have been more fun as a coyote.

Mercy checked to see if anyone needed coaxing through before moving on.

This one was actually kind of fun! Evan zigzagged back and forth, and really didn't bother waiting to see if anyone was going to need help with this one. Running in zigzags was easy, right?

Nice. And pretty easy. Mercy was through it in no time.

... It actually took a lot of restraint for Evan to keep from saying, 'Wheee!' as he swung his way through this obstacle. Was that wrong?

A bit more tricky, but doable. Mercy hung around here for a while to help out if needed.
