"Mrph," Rory said, looking up and blinking. "Pretty! Valentine's isn't for a few days, right? I didn't sleep until Tuesday?"

"Nope, it's still Thursday. These were in my room when I got back from the Perk. Broots sent them." Angela might have been gloating a tiny bit. "I mean, it's because our date sucked, but still. The boy has taste."

"Can't say I'm surprised. About the taste thing, not the date sucking thing," Rory said quickly. "What happened?"

"What didn't? He brought flowers I was allergic to, I tripped and twisted my ankle, he knocked over a candle and lit my purse on fire, we both got tomato sauce all over our shirts..." Angela lets her voice trail off. "I mean, he was nice. But still. No sparks, y'know?"

"Eek," Rory said, wincing. "That's almost like a sitcom or something."

She sighed and ran a hand over her hair. "No sparks, huh? Is there anyone here who you are interested in?"

Angela paused for a moment. "Not really," she admitted. "I mean, Blair Sandburg is kind of sweet, but he'd be too bouncy for long-term. Plus, I'm still kind of hung up on Marty. So maybe I wouldn't have felt sparks with anybody."

Rory nodded. "Yeah, Blair's a sweetheart, but I don't think I can picture him with you. And yeah, maybe you just need time to deal more with the whole Marty thing. Doesn't mean anything's wrong or anything."

"I think you're right," Angela sighed. Tilting her head to one side, she added, "Did you see Marty in ACJ this morning? It keeps saying he's acting strange on the radio, but he was fine, when I talked to him Tuesday. Really low-key, by his standards."

"Yeah, I heard he's been weird. Like, he told my mom to go to a doctor, which is just bizarre and not Martyish," Rory mused. "He was fine in ACJ though. Eating an omelette and looking like himself."

Angela scrunched her brow. "An actual omelet, or egg whites?"

"Egg whites. I didn't get a good look, but I'm pretty sure that's what I saw," Rory shrugged.

"Huh," Angela says, tossing it aside. "Whatever, Marty's weird, film at eleven."

"Oh, I talked to Jack Harkness at the Perk this morning. Sounds like his birthday party's going to be either awesome or really scary over-the-top. Possibly both."

"Huh, isn't Professor Cregg in charge of it?" Rory asked lazily. "She's good with over-the-topness."

"That's what he said," Angela agreed. "Didn't she do a whole Renn Fest thing for her birthday back in the fall?"

"Yeah, I think so?" Rory guessed. "I think that was when I was stuck in bed. But Callynanders brought me stuff from it."

"Yeah, I didn't get to go either," Angela replied quietly. "I think I spent about half that weekend in the clinic with you guys."

"But I heard it was huge."

Rory nodded. "Lucky Jack. Are you going to go?"

"Probably? Unless something comes up between now and Monday. I like Jack, and I kind of want to see the hotel anyhow."

"What about you?"

"Probably," Rory nodded. "I'm not sure yet. Day before Valentine's Day, right? And that's something else I need to figure out."

"Oh, right," Angela said a little vaguely. "Because ... yes. That would be complicated."

""Do they have Valentine's Day on other planets," she asked innocuously.

"They might?" Rory guessed. "But not on some planets where some people are from. But you know how folks around here are nice and informative."

"And sometimes their information is even right," Angela agreed, remembering the Christmas pageant.

"So ... do you think you might have plans?"

"No idea. I mean, blah blah hypothetical, blah blah - I said it wasn't a big deal like twenty times," Rory shrugged. "But you know how he is. In theory, et cetera."

"Right. In theory, blah blah blah, some guys want to make a big deal out of it. And, yeah, he would probably be the type. Hypothetically."

She tilted her head to one side. "Do you think you can keep the hypothetical thing up until May?"

Rory shrugged. "I don't know. I mean, we can totally try, anyway. And right now it's the only thing we can do. If we find a way to, um, not be hypothetical? Totally taking it. But we've got nothing now."
