Heroics, Fame, and You, Wednesday, Period 4

For once, Electroclash looked to be in an okay enough mood as her mostly-new batch of students filed in. Or, at least she wasn't actively scowling at them. You had to take what you got with her, okay?

"Alright, kidlets," she drawled once it looked like everyone who was about show up had done just that. "As some of you know ––" Possibly all, if they knew how to read their class timetables. "–– I'm Electroclash, and this is Heroics, Fame, and You." She barely kept herself from rolling her eyes at the class title, and picked up some stuff off the table. "Basically, I'm supposed to tell you how you can get your face on stuff like this." She held up a comic book and a stack of what appeared to be trading cards. "Or how not to make a complete arse of yourself in the promotional photo shoot for your first cereal advert campaign, and all that stuff. But we'll get to that starting next week."

Because bah, like she'd prepared an actual class for the first week? Please.

"Today is introductions, and if you couldn't see that one coming I am sincerely wondering how you even made it through the door today. I want you to tell me your name and your power. If you don't have a power, tell me something else that's special about you." No reason. Like, say, fodder for their new capenames. "Or if you were in my last class, just tell me something amusing about yourself. We have a whole class's worth of time to kill here, kids. Let's get to it."

"Oh, yeah, one more thing," she added, glancing at the paper on her desk, "says here I'm supposed to have a grad assistant called... Rinoa? So yeah, that's one TA. And Flying Sycophant ––" Sorry, Billy. "–– you get the other spot. Now, introductions."

"Yeah?" Electroclash didn't look particularly impressed with that. They had people like that back home. She-Force had made out with one once. "You got gills then, Fish Boy?"

... The narrative would've said sorry, but Electroclash really wasn't.

"Sounds Greek, probably a friend of Herc's," Electroclash shrugged, because she really, really didn't care. "My Dad's Rampart, and I bet you've never heard of him either, Fish Boy."

Which, by the way, really was his name now.

Which was a simple way to put it that didn't involve announcing the robot thing again.

Electroclash raised a mildly interested eyebrow. Because hey, her name was Electroclash. That last bit was right up her alley.

"Is that a psionic ability or ...?"

"Technical," Victor said, and cleared his throat as he decided that if something had been on the radio and he was incapable of getting through a 10-minute conversation without mentioning it, he had already thoroughly blown any chance of a cover.

Besides, he was kind of curious about the teacher's code name, too.

"I'm a cyborg. It came with the package." He raised his left hand, let the faintest shimmer of sparks dance over his fingertips.

"Fear powers?" Electroclash questioned. "Does that mean you cause fear in others, or that you... I don't know, piss yourself in a manner that stops crime when you're frightened?"

For her, this was a legitimate question. Some people had shitty powers. Also it couldn't be stressed enough that she was a horrible person.

"More the first one," Alex said. "The second sounds like it would be a really terrible superpower. Oh, and I know what people are afraid of. I'm sort of Phobos, the god of fear. Well, not sort of, I am." Alex could ramble sometimes.

Not certified by anyone. Just sort of "certified". Really, his superpower was to be incredibly annoying, but he wouldn't admit to that one.

Luke would've facepalmed at Percy being a jerk but he knew from previous experience that Electroclash deserved it.

"I'm Luke Castellan." There, easy part down. "And I held up the sky once. It sucked."

That wasn't quite amusing but Luke thought the teacher would be amused by it at least.

Eh, it was entertaining enough. Electroclash gave him a little nod. "As I imagine it would," she rasped. "Even if it's air and supposed to seem weightless and shit. Excelsor Jr, welcome back."

"Anakin Solo," he said shortly, nodding. "I'm a Jedi Knight." Which he was now going to have to qualify to differentiate it from an Imperial Knight, huh? Of course, explaining what a Jedi did would also help, but he still didn't remember that the concept wasn't as ubiquitous here as at home.

"I'm also really good at puzzles and computer programming."

Really? He had to explain this? Well, that just poked another hole in Anakin's sense of self-importance, for which his uncle was probably grateful.

New leak sprung or not, he still frowned before answering. "The guardians of peace and justice in my galaxy," he said in a carefully neutral but still vaguely impatient voice, with no idea how exactly that kind of explanation would go over with Electroclash. "We're not bound by loyalties to any one planet or civilization. We mediate disputes, defend against invaders, whatever needs to be done."

"My name's Angelica Jones," Angelica said when her turn came. She took a breath, because even though she knew it was safe, she couldn't help but remember what had happened in the airport when she'd gone to visit her father. "I'm a mutant. I can control microwave radiation."

Though actually she had a pretty decent idea about what it meant in a more general sense.

She'd never tried to direct her powers at something that small. She might burn it all to a crisp.
