Newbie Shuttle, Portalocity Terminal, BWI (Saturday Morning Fandom Time)

After everyone was done shouting at and/or hugging him to say goodbye – and there had been a lot of both –Victor Mancha had two choices in getting from Los Angeles to BWI. The first was taking a commercial flight, which would have been reassuringly normal.

The problem was that, even if he somehow got past the metal detectors, he suspected his circuitry might count as the kind of portable electronic device that wasn’t very takeoff-and-landing-friendly. He didn’t exactly have an easy off switch, and crashing a plane by mistake seemed like a big step towards super-villainhood.

Which meant he got to the Baltimore airport via portal. He’d never been through one before so he didn’t have much to go by, but it seemed like a nice portal: If nothing else, it smelled far better than Cloak’s ... cloak had. Victor was grateful to know that hadn’t been the state-of-the-art in teleporting.

And now he was on the East Coast other than New York for the first time. Once he’d exhausted the little potential for exploration the terminal had, he sat in a semi-comfortable airport chair, suitcase at his feet, and tried to break the Tetris high score on his phone while keeping watch for any other kids.

[OOC: Operation newbies: Go! I will be slow for a few hours after 5:30 EST, but otherwise around all night.]

Anakin would never admit it, but he totally looked forward to picking up the shiny new students and driving them back to school at speeds no bus should attempt.

He swept toward the assembled group, cloak swirling around his ankles when he stopped (and yes, he'd practiced that for decades to make it look that good) and arched up an eyebrow.

"The Fandom High School shuttle is here."

There was a brief pause, then he added: "And I'm not just a bus driver."

So it bothered him to have that conversation a few times a year, okay? Sue him.

"Do people make that mistake a lot?" Victor had to ask, as he scrambled to get his bags together. "And, uh, hi. I'm Victor Mancha. Sir."

Something about the cloak swirl demanded a 'sir.'

"Every time I pick them up," Anakin said. "And when I win the coin toss with Deadpool to drive."

He was impressed. fully prepared to freak out about it a little, but impressed.

"Hi," said Frank, striding forward with a big smile and his hand outstretched. "I'm Frank Abagnale. I'm a freshman from New Rochelle. Nice to meet you."

So maybe someone was a little bit of a kiss-ass.

"Anakin Skywalker," Anakin replied, shaking the offered hand. "I'm the Dean of Students. Welcome to Fandom, Mr. Abagnale."

... Yeah, he could tell by the cloak. And the lightsaber. And the swirling. Could he be even more the Jedi stereotype?

"Didn't know they put Jedi on driving duties these days," Atton drawled. "Trying to make a few extra credits?"

Five seconds earlier, he'd started counting the puffs the bus's engines made in his head.

If this was another relative, Anakin was going to try to run himself over with the bus.

"Please tell me your last name isn't Skywalker or Solo."

Another Force sensitive? Sia was beginning to wonder about this place.

She offered a nod and a "Thank you," because that was polite and if he wasn't a bus driver she wasn't about to assume what he was.

Peeta wasn't about to assume someone was just a driver (though it seemed like a fine occupation to him) but it was nice to have that little fact laid out for him. More people could do with being straightforward.

He gave Anakin a little wave and a friendly "Thank you" because he really was thankful to have someone herd him around while he figured out what was going on.

"Let me guess," Sparkle mused as he headed to the bus, an easy grin across his face, "you're also the maintenance guy?"

It was the cloak. It totally screamed 'manual labour.'

"Of course you're not," Holmes was forced to say, still looking more than vaguely homeless as he joined an admittedly terrifying amount of children onto the bus.

Why-ever had he thought teaching would be a good idea?

Mina just stared with stars in her eyes. "How do you make it do that?" she asked, staring at his cape.

Artemis was glad to be in his carrier, for once, where he could hide his facepaw.

He was tired. The coffee wasn't working yet. He could probably come up with a few more reasons for sassing a man with a cloak that swirly.

"Are you also going to be blown away by electricity and the TV?" Anakin asked. "Because the TV is boring. There's nothing good on: everyone on the Amazing Race this season is horrifically unlikeable."

Because that would make sense.
