After everyone was done shouting at and/or hugging him to say goodbye – and there had been a lot of both –Victor Mancha had two choices in getting from Los Angeles to BWI. The first was taking a commercial flight, which would have been reassuringly normal.

The problem was that, even if he somehow got past the metal detectors, he suspected his circuitry might count as the kind of portable electronic device that wasn’t very takeoff-and-landing-friendly. He didn’t exactly have an easy off switch, and crashing a plane by mistake seemed like a big step towards super-villainhood.

Which meant he got to the Baltimore airport via portal. He’d never been through one before so he didn’t have much to go by, but it seemed like a nice portal: If nothing else, it smelled far better than Cloak’s ... cloak had. Victor was grateful to know that hadn’t been the state-of-the-art in teleporting.

And now he was on the East Coast other than New York for the first time. Once he’d exhausted the little potential for exploration the terminal had, he sat in a semi-comfortable airport chair, suitcase at his feet, and tried to break the Tetris high score on his phone while keeping watch for any other kids.

"Promise I won't do that," Victor said, then -- "Wait, Deadpool like the mercenary?"

He was impressed. fully prepared to freak out about it a little, but impressed.

"Sarcastic, weird habit about talking to or about people who aren't there, red pajamas?" Anakin checked.

"... well, I've never met him personally, but that sounds about right," Victor said. "He drives buses here?"

He was edging towards freaking out, yep.

"He's another one of the deans at the school. We take turns," Anakin said.

To warn or not to warn...

"There might be a few familiar names and faces when you get to the school, if you recognize Deadpool's."

"Yeah, there .... might have already been something like that."

And now Victor was basically staring at Karolina, trying to decide if she could hear them or not. "Could I talk to you in private for a second?"

Nico would freak about the gratuitous trusting of adults, but Nico wasn't there.

"Of course," Anakin said, stepping away from the group.

"Thanks," Victor said, and spoke softly and quickly. "The blonde girl over there is my teammate back home. We, like, live together. Have for a year. And she has no freaking clue who I am."

Victor stopped there, trying to figure out if he had more to say, but that seemed to cover the situation pretty well.

"Does that happen a lot?"

Anakin nodded. "It's not unheard of," he said sympathetically. "Timelines get a little tangled up and twisted."

"I don't know if it's a timeline or if she's from some world where I don't exist or..." Victor shook his head. "This is weird. Weirder than Deadpool working at a school."

"Give yourself--and her--a little time to adjust," Anakin recommended. "This place will take some getting used to."

Victor nodded. "I'm not sure if I should tell her everything or kind of ... let her be," he said. "Basically I spazzed at her and then excused myself."

"I'd say keep it to yourself for a bit," Anakin said. "If she's from a reality that doesn't include you, nothing you tell her would make sense anyway."

"I guess," Victor nodded, though unhappily. "Too bad, though. Seeing her and not really being able to say much will just make me miss the one at home worse."

Anakin nodded. "Believe me, I understand that feeling."
