Library, Sunday 04/01

The library had rearranged itself for some reason, Raven discovered when she came in in the morning. She was perplexed as to just why it had had this fit of whimsy until she realized the date. There was no way she could reshelve every book in the library in its proper place, so she just hoped everything would be back to where it belonged tomorrow.

Elizabeth was entertaining herself with some children's books she'd pulled out (from where the physics section usually was), but Raven had little doubt her daughter would grow restless at some point and wander. She had to wonder if there were any other children that belonged to her on the island this weekend, if Rook or Arella had made a return visit as well. But no Anakin Bass, please.

Dalia had been told there might be a half-sibling this way, so she wandered down to the library fairly early in the day.

"Hi, Raven," she said. "How's your weekend going so far?"

Black hair, pale skin, and black clothes -- hopefully Dalia would forgive Raven for wondering for a split-second if she was her mother. But the ankh and something about her told her otherwise.

"Hello," she said with a warm smile. "I am doing well and I hope you are the same, but I fear you have me at a disadvantage. I do not know your name."

"Dalia Starsmore," Dalia answered properly. "Sorry, you're friends with my parents back home. My dad's Jono and my mom's Didi."

She shrugged a little. "Dad mentioned he had a kid with you, which is weird, but ... figured I should meet the half-siblings."

"Didi," Raven breathed, wide-eyed. Even if that had been what she had quickly suspected, it still caught her by surprise to hear it confirmed. "So there was a world where she could stay instead of returning to her duties? Oh, Azar, that is wondrous. Please tell me they are happy."

Elizabeth came wandering over to peer at the new arrival. "Hi!" she said. "I'm Elizabeth."

"Yeah, they've been married a long time," Dalia confirmed. "I mean, Dad's still ... Dad, but mostly it's peaceful. It's really weird to me she couldn't make it work here."

Again: She was going to hug her mom a lot when she got home,
and then she leaned forward. "Hi!" She told Elizabeth. "I'm Dalia. We have the same father."

"I do not think she believed it was a choice she was allowed to make," Raven murmured. "I know she very much wished to stay, and that she loved Jono very much, and he her. It was a very sad day when she had to resume her duties and leave a mortal life behind. I am glad there was at least one world where she did not have to go."

"How do I have a big sister?" Elizabeth said, brow furrowing, looking from Dalia to Raven. "Oh! Fandom weirdness, right?"

Clearly she was used to that kind of thing popping up from time to time.

In answer to Raven's wondering, another child appeared in the library that afternoon. "Hi, Mom," she said. "I thought I'd find you here."

"Hello, little one," Raven said, coming around to the front of the desk to look over this new arrival, projecting a warm pulse of comfort and assurance. "I may very well be your mother, but I am afraid I am uncertain as to what your name is."

She tried to keep her tone light and teasing to go with the empathic brush of calmness, not wanting to panic the child if she didn't understand what was going on.

Someone wanted to see Aunt Raven and catch up with her! Someone who probably 'felt' a lot like Dinah and was beaming in recognition.

"Aunt Raven yay! It *is* your day to work here!"

"I didn't get to see you young the last two times I visited," Lena said, going for the hug. Even if Raven thought she was a stranger, she so wasn't. "I'm Lena. Dinah and Priestly's kid. It's been ages!" And I had to squee at somebody about my awesome Plan, but I don't want to Spoil things telling stuff around Mom and Berto!

Lena snuggled in and asked aloud, "So, who showed up for you? I'm Mom's only, this time. Sin's probably too busy to pay attention to portals in New Gotham."

My birthday is next month, and I'm going to be seducing Berto. Wait, is it seducing if you're mostly just getting a guy to admit he liiiiiiiikes you?
