Library, Sunday 04/01

The library had rearranged itself for some reason, Raven discovered when she came in in the morning. She was perplexed as to just why it had had this fit of whimsy until she realized the date. There was no way she could reshelve every book in the library in its proper place, so she just hoped everything would be back to where it belonged tomorrow.

Elizabeth was entertaining herself with some children's books she'd pulled out (from where the physics section usually was), but Raven had little doubt her daughter would grow restless at some point and wander. She had to wonder if there were any other children that belonged to her on the island this weekend, if Rook or Arella had made a return visit as well. But no Anakin Bass, please.

"I do not think she believed it was a choice she was allowed to make," Raven murmured. "I know she very much wished to stay, and that she loved Jono very much, and he her. It was a very sad day when she had to resume her duties and leave a mortal life behind. I am glad there was at least one world where she did not have to go."

"How do I have a big sister?" Elizabeth said, brow furrowing, looking from Dalia to Raven. "Oh! Fandom weirdness, right?"

Clearly she was used to that kind of thing popping up from time to time.

"Fandom weirdness," Dalia confirmed. She was grateful for the distraction; what Raven had said had been too big and too sad for her to completely take in.

After she got home and hugged her mom, she'd have to ask Didi a lot of questions.

"We're from totally different universes. I don't know why I'm bigger than you instead of littler, though. Sorry."

Raven caught Dalia's mood and embraced the distraction as well, not wanting to cause her any distress. "I do not fully understand such things, but your timeline must be further along than the one Elizabeth comes from, I suppose," she said. "How long has it been since your parents went to school here? I know time in your father's world moves much faster, though your mother's may be more like mine, for our worlds were more similar."

"About twenty-five years?" Dalia answered, with a bit of a shrug. "We live in mom's world, for what it's worth. She says it tends to be a little quieter."

She glanced to Elizabeth again. "How long has it been for her?"

"Daddy just had his ten year reunion at Fandom," Elizabeth piped up. "And he complained about being old for weeks."

"He does that for us, too," Dalia confided. "I think he just wants us to tell him he's still a rock star. So we do."

Raven laughed softly. "Perhaps I should try that more often now to improve his mood," she said.

She fell silent for a moment, mulling over a question. "May I ask you a something?" she said. "Your father, is he as he is now, or as he was when he attended school here?"

"It couldn't hurt," Dalia promised, with a little laugh of her own. "And, uh, he's ... the way he is here. Blue. I've never actually seen him the other way, only in pictures."

She ran a hand through her hair. "Was he ... really different, then?"

She was glad to hear of another reality where Jono had made it through the distress of his transformation. That was at least three by her count. Not that she was counting.

"Physically, yes, very much so," Raven said. "And being changed was difficult for him. But I have little doubt your mother helped him through it."
