Library is open, 2/8

Zero opens the library and takes up a post behind the desk with a large cup of coffee and a rather questionable-looking romance novel with a centaur and a mermaid on the cover.

"Hi, Isabel," said Janet. "How's it going?"

"Pretty good, it'll better when the Western Civ quiz is over though. I studied, and I think I'll do okay, but test...." Isabel sighed.

"I'm sure you'll do just fine," said Janet. "You didn't let the amount of material intimidate you, did you? Because I think Dr. Pierson just got a little, ah, overenthused."

"No, it's a lot but it's pretty interesting. Plus he makes it even more interesting with all his little bits of snark." She grinned, as long as we don't have to write anything in Sumerian, I think I'm okay."

Janet laughed. "I think if he asked that, I'd have to rebel," she said. "After all, this is a history course, not a linguistics course. So are you looking forward to game night? I saw that you put up some posters."

"Game night should be fun. If people show up for it. ~~You would not believe what I'm doing for it right now.~~ And there's no snow monsters, or singing," she laughed.

"It's in one of the common rooms, right?" asked Janet. "That's a people magnet right there. ~~Hooray, OCD!~~ I think the snow monster threat has been vanquished, the gremlins that are left are all in hiding, so you should be fine." She paused. "And please, let there be no singing."

"Fourth Floor Common Room, Saturday night at 7:30. I thought about having it in the Second Floor Common Room since there's always people there but since I don't live on that floor I didn't want to just take over the common room."

"I'm still buying cookies for Xander to make up for the singing. Not that I sang but he did. I just laughed," she smiled.

"I'd imagine people will trek up to the fourth floor for Monopoly," said Janet. "But I also doubt people will mind you using the second floor common room either."

"Poor Xander," said Janet. "I was closeted in my room all weekend, so I didn't actually sing. Or, for that matter, talk to anyone, which is why I guess I didn't burst out into song."

"I didn't want to step on any toes. Besides trekking is good for you. It burns calories," Isabel said. "And I certainly need to do that. I've eaten more doughnuts since I've been here."

"Consider yourself very, very lucky. I know I do. Because it seemed like you really didn't have a choice in what you sang about, it just all came out. Which I suppose in certain circumstances has the potential to be a very bad thing."

"A party in the second floor common room is never stepping on anyone's toes." Janet grinned. "Though I'll be a while getting there. My ribs are still twinging and those are a lot of stairs."

Janet's eyes widened. "That would have been bad. Especially last weekend, it would have been very bad ~~and not even in a 'comedic mistiming' kind of way either~~. I think I'm glad I didn't go out this weekend."

"I'll save you a comfy chair."

Isabel nodded, "Yeah if it had happened on Friday that would not have been good. Somehow bursting into song at a time like that? Nah, not fun. Friday was insane with the studying, and Saturday was nuts with the singing. Fortunately Sunday was pretty nice. I was with a bunch of people watching the Superbowl and mocking the commercials." She grinned, "Some of them were pretty funny."

"Thanks. Was the Superbowl on Sunday?" asked Janet. "I've been a little distracted lately, I guess. I think that I'm studying too much. So what was the worst commercial you saw?"

"Yes, but honestly I couldn't tell you who played. I watch strictly for the commercials." She made a face. "I can't really say who was the worst. I tend to tune them out. But the Disney one was adorable."

"What happened in that one?" asked Janet.

Isabel smiled, "It was a bunch of big, brawny football players, I assume from the teams that were playing in the Superbowl, but they were practicing saying 'I'm going to Disney World'."

Janet snickered. "That's a little odd. So how else have things been going for you, anyway? Are all your other classes as overwhelming as Western Civ?"

"Things are going well actually. Classes are pretty fun. You wouldn't believe what we did in studio for History of Art the other day." She snickered, "I may never look at a doughnut the same way again. And I have everything else under control. For the moment, at least."

"Is the new teacher as much of a male chauvinist pervert as the last one?" asked Janet. "If so, I don't want to know what's going on with the doughnuts."

"Actually the teacher is pretty cool. And the class can be pretty interesting at times." Isabel ducked her head in embarrassment, "We had to make a fresco. Somehow we came up with the idea of naked Romans and doughnuts."

Janet started laughing. "Who was the one who suggested that?"

Isabel was now a lovely shade of fire engine red. "Me? And Kara Thrace. We were trying to see if we could break Xander's brain."

Janet bent over nearly double, her arms resting on the counter, as she started laughing even harder. "How could you resist? Did you manage to break his brain?"

"I'm still buying him baked goods," Isabel giggled. "But it was so worth it."

"Absolutely," said Janet, reduced to helpless giggles.
