Zero opens the library and takes up a post behind the desk with a large cup of coffee and a rather questionable-looking romance novel with a centaur and a mermaid on the cover.

She's actually asleep on the novel, her coffee untouched and cooling next to her. She'll wake up if anyone comes in.

Sweet, sweet caffeine. Zero is in a better, more awake mood now.

She starts in on the star-crossed tale of a half-fish girl and her star-crossed love affair with a half-horse boy.

Zero gives up on the book, but for the rest of the day she'll be bursting into giggles at random intervals. Especially if anyone mentions 'scales' or something like that.

The library is closed to the public so the library aides can eat their lunches in peace.

Zero leaves the desk to reshelve some books. Perhaps one of the other library aides can help you?

Zero is back behind the desk, surfing Amazon.com on her laptop. She's looking up the works of Angelica Demesnes, author of The Jade Flower and its sequels.

Having used her credit card to spend some of her parents' money on silly romance novels, and the day being drawing to a close, Zero is in the best mood she's been in all week.

Parker came in bearing coffee, chocolate, and CDs. "Hey, Zero," she said, tentatively.

Janet finally made it into the library. She smiled and waved at Zero as she put her backpack down behind the Collections Desk.

Zero willfully ignored her.

Parker set her jaw, and narrowed her eyes. "Here's some chocolate and coffee. And the CD is a new band out of New York. They are *not* bribes. They're just yours." She folded her arms. "I said I was sorry."

[yayy! *glomp!* You're back!]

Isabel came in at the end of fourth period looking for Parker. "Hey Zero, Janet!"

"Hi, Isabel," said Janet. "How's it going?"

"Pretty good, it'll better when the Western Civ quiz is over though. I studied, and I think I'll do okay, but test...." Isabel sighed.

"I'm sure you'll do just fine," said Janet. "You didn't let the amount of material intimidate you, did you? Because I think Dr. Pierson just got a little, ah, overenthused."

"Hey Isabel. We still on for lunch?"

"No, it's a lot but it's pretty interesting. Plus he makes it even more interesting with all his little bits of snark." She grinned, as long as we don't have to write anything in Sumerian, I think I'm okay."

"That would be great. You can keep me from stressing over the quiz in Western Civ I have next period."

"Maybe you should have thought about that before."

"Pierson's a softie. Really. Don't worry."

"Thanks. He seems pretty nice. If you don't fall asleep in class that is." Isabel smiled sheepishly, "I found that out the hard way."

Janet laughed. "I think if he asked that, I'd have to rebel," she said. "After all, this is a history course, not a linguistics course. So are you looking forward to game night? I saw that you put up some posters."

"Oh, ugh." Parker made a face. "I have an exam in Medieval English with Dr. Pierson tomorrow. If it's anything similar, I'll definitely keep you distracted. Where do you feel like going?"

Parker counted to ten in Italian under her breath. "How long are you going to be mad at me? A year? A month? A week? I'd just like to know. You can be mad as long as you want, but the cold shoulder is making me *crazy*."
