Monster attack

Shots can still be heard down in the town. The troopers seem to be all tied up down there. Which is why it might be disconcerting to anyone watching out the windows to see figures begin rising out of the snow on the lawn of the school. More are moving out of the trees also.

They begin making their way toward the buildings.

[[OOC: If people choose to leave the building to fight, please organize yourselves into groups (preferably in the gym thread) and post your location in the subject line. This will make it a lot easier for me to keep track of everything.]]

"Feel what?" Angel looked around. He didn't see anything.

"Something just brushed against my ankle," Callisto frowned. "Which is insane, because there can't be anything lving in the snow, right?"

"Today? Yes. Yes, there can."

The sharks circle around and it suddenly gets much colder.

"Oh frak me," Callisto started scanning the ground near her feet. "Great, just great."

Angel moved to put his back against Callisto. He readied the pulse gun. "Still got the burninating stuff handy, honey?"

"Always," Callisto readied a stake. "Is that music sounding a lot faster and louder to you?"

"L'il bit," Angel said. He aimed the gun towards the snow. He fired off an experimental shot, hoping it would hit or at least drive whatever it was to where Callisto could get it.

Suddenly, a snow shark leaps out towards Angel and Callisto, its great icy mouth open wide.

Angel fired a shot, his aim not as good as it could be with his attention divided between the shark and trying to protect Callisto.

Callisto might have taken a moment to thwap Angel upside the head. "Focus! Less protecting, more killing."

Witout even thinking, Callisto threw a firestake right down its gullet.

The fiery stake renders its teeth harmless as it crashes into Angel before slipping back into the snow to rebuild.

Angel fell down onto the ground. He had no wind to be knocked out of him, but damn it these were nice jeans.

As though this was no interruption in their conversation at all, he said to Callisto "I have instincts. It's not like I try to do the hero thing on purpose."

The sharks circle around Angel, brushing against him.

Angel jerked away. He got onto his feet again ~~avoiding Callisto who is afk~~ and readied the gun. "You know, I never liked fish."

"They're fine once you stick 'em over a fire," Callisto threw a stake at what was hopefully a shark. "And learn to control your instincts, or you'll hero yourself to death."

"Already dead," Angel reminded her.

"Which only proves my point," C'mere little fishies, Auntie Callisto has something for you. "Heroing gets you dead, fast. And I don't need to be protected."

"I don't think you do," Angel said. He kept the gun trained on the ground. Any second now was going to be more icy teeth and he did not want the shirt ruined too. "But if we're teaming up why shouldn't I take the damage so that you can keep on fighting?"

"Because splitting your focus like that just makes you more likely to take unnecessary damage, and less likely to actually kill the enemy!" Callisto found herself humming that stupid bass line. "I know how to take care of myself."

"So what if I take damage?" Angel asked. Was that a fin he saw just a few feet away or just a trick of the light? "It's not like it matters!"

"Because of course it doesn't matter if one of our better fighters gets taken out!" Callisto thwapped him upside the head. "Tell me are you really that stupid, or is it just the matyrdom complex talking?"

"Ow!" Angel rubbed his head. "Hand with stake! And it'd be fine. You'd still be here!"

"I cannot believe I'm hearing this," If looks could kill the patch of snow she was scanning would have melted instantly. "It would not be fine if you got yourself killed!"
