Monster attack

Shots can still be heard down in the town. The troopers seem to be all tied up down there. Which is why it might be disconcerting to anyone watching out the windows to see figures begin rising out of the snow on the lawn of the school. More are moving out of the trees also.

They begin making their way toward the buildings.

Jack comes up with the first fifteen loads of pots, fuel and oil to boil.

Jack comes up with the second fifteen loads. He's raided the trash cans and dumpsters for burnable stuff. "Hey, Vala!"

"Yeah?"

Jack points to a pile of... stuff. "Can you set that on fire with that thing?"

"Oooh, you got it." She took aim at the pile and lit it with one well placed Zat blast. "What are you going to do, throw flaming wood on them?"

Jack grinned at her. "Nope." He (handwaved) a rack over it and dumped all the pots he'd been able to find on it. He began filling them with gallon-containers of oil. He'd situated the pile and rack over by the edge of the building, so he could just tip the pots of hopefully-soon-to-be-boiling-oil over onto the monsters.

"Oh, good plan!" Vala said, turning back to where she could see -- yep, they were actual snow monsters -- forming down below.

Angela comes up the stairs to the roof, weighted down with back issues of the newspaper.

"Made it," she says, dropping them near tthe other supplies with a thud as she goes to look over the edge of the building at the hordes of snow monsters. Her eyes go big, but she doesn't say anything.

Rory's on Angela's heels, her arms laden with bundles of newspaper.

"Okay. What are we doing with this?" she asked, setting them down and shoving a wool cap onto her head. "Just lighting up and throwing them over? Won't we hit the people on the ground?"

"Nope." Jack grabs the bundles and starts adding them to the fire. "Boil oil, pour down on creatures made of frozen water. See how it works."

"It should work if the wind doesn't blow the oil the wrong way," Angela agrees.

She fills mroe pans with oil and set them on the fire to heat.

Impatient, Jack grabs a pot and pours it down (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/572795.html?thread=27230075#t27230075) then does a little dance when it connects and five monsters melt.

Angela follows Jack's lead, but the hot oil slops over and burns her hand.

"Ow. I'm going to run to medical, unless you really need me here."

"Ange, are you okay?" Rory asked, reemerging from the dorms again with two espresso machines and the coffee machine from the common room - with a still-full coffee pot. "Need me to walk with you?"

Angela shakes her head. "Nah, it's nothing. Just really hurts I'll be back as fast as I can."

She scurries down the stairs, cradling her injured left hand in her right.

Jack waves at her. "Ouch! Go. We'll be fine!"

"Thanks," Angela says over her shoulder. She's already halfway to the stairs.
