Announcement and Refugee Hosting in The Gym, Friday Evening

The P.A. crackles to life.

"We shall be opening our doors to the poor, powerless townsfolk. They are to gather in the gym. Volunteers to help organize blankets, bedding, food, and etcetera would be very welcome."

Smith then walks down to the gym, props open the doors, and walks away. This was going to be a mess, and he felt ignoring it would be the best method to deal with it, rather than letting his head explode. Again.

[ooc: Huzzah! Townies can come to this post for their safety and warmth! Screening is disabled! Students and Teachers are welcome to organize something... but as it's an emergency, we hath not actually organized the refugee effort! Organize! Be Swift! But above all, interact and have fun!]

"Yes, the two doctors should definitely be informed of his turn of events," Fraser agrees. "And I'm very glad to see you as well, Dr. Pevensie. Mr. Gavin and I have agreed that keeping people calm, at this stage, is the important thing. Soon, they'll start getting restless and we're afraid of tensions escalating then."

Susan found Fraser again about half an hour later. "I'm afraid Dr. Wilson is stuck in town, and Dr. House is confined to the clinic because of his leg. He did say he's keep it accessible to us, if we should need it, though. How are people doing?" she asked, looking around anxiously. "No fistfights yet, I hope?"

"Not as of yet," he replies. "So, as of right now, the only medical personnel on hand are yourself and Mr. Gavin, correct?"

"Well, full medical personnel, yes. The students have been trained in First Aid, at least. And I believe Alanna has some extra healing ability?" Susan sounded dubious, then added, "I've never seen her use it, so I have no idea how extensive it is. Or if any of the others have it. I've only talked to Lisa and Janet before, and they both said they do not." She tried to look cheerful. "Still! No injuries yet!"

"Hopefully we'll avoid injuries throughout this ordeal," Fraser says, nodding. "But, it is good to know we have a variety of people with medical training to help if it is needed. And how are you doing, Dr. Pevensie? Need anything to drink or eat?"

"Oh, if you have coffee, that would be lovely. Otherwise, I ate before I arrived. I wasn't sure what would be available here, so I made a few sandwiches for the next few days." She shrugged, looking rueful. "One a Girl Guide, always a Girl Guide."

Fraser nods and goes to retrieve a cup of coffee. He returns and holds it out to her.

"You're very prepared," Fraser compliments. "It's always good to think quickly in situations like these. Girl Guide?"

"Mmmph," Susan swallowed a sip of coffee. "Yes, I was in the Guides until I was-- oh, I must have been fifteen or so," she cocked her head. "Outdoor camping, and some survival skills. It's funny what comes back to you. Merit badges for swimming and first aid, and so on."

"Ah, you've spent time in the wilderness then?" Fraser's interested now. "Travelled a lot?"

Another world, another time. "When I was younger," Susan said, cautious. "I've rather stuck to Mother England for the last decade or so. And you? You never did say how a Mountie ended up in America, much less this little Island, as a Security expert." Constable Fraser seemed quite nice, but ... there was no reason to get into complexities she didn't understand herself.

"Previously, I was actually working in Chicago as a liaison to the Canadian consulate," Fraser says. "So, I'm not entirely new to the United States, just to this area. As for how I came to be down here, it was an opportunity I couldn't look away from. Before Chicago, I travelled a lot in Canada as well."

"Ah. I admit, half of why I took this job was to re-visit America. I enjoyed it a great deal when I visited it--" fifty years ago? Right. "--When I was younger. But this place, of course, was utterly unexpected." She sighed, and rubbed her eyes. "And not always in the best ways," she muttered under her breath.

Fraser frowns. "Is everything all right, Dr. Pevensie?"

Re: MEDICAL HELP

"Just the usual disappointment of expectations finally coming to Earth," she said, shaking her head. "I thought a magic island would have no mundane problems. Ridiculous of me, wasn't it?"

Re: MEDICAL HELP

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Being relatively new as well, I can tell you that a lot of this...is not mundane for me," he answers honestly. "But no, it's not ridiculous. Living on an island like this and only dealing with a common cold or a fractured bone can seem very deflating."

"It is," Susan shook her head at herself. "Well, never mind that. I think I'd better round up the assistants, and see if they know what to expect. Thank you for being so helpful, Constable."

"Feel free to come and find me should you need any further help, Dr. Pevensie." He smiles warmly.

And she had to smile back. "I certainly shall."
