Seeking another sort of book, Fraser enters the library, smiling.

"Good morning, Miss Parker," he says. "Are you the only aide in today?"

Parker nodded, her usual smile dimmed a little. "So far. We're pretty flexible about this sort of thing, it's whoever gets here first. How can I help you?"

"I was actually hoping to borrow another book," he says, tucking his hat under his arm. "How are you today?"

Parker managed to roll her eyes at herself. No reason to take her mood out on the cutie-pie. "Not great." Bunnynapping and Darla; at least she could mention one of them. "Did you hear about the attack in town last night? My friend Vala is in the clinic because of it."

"I did not," Fraser says, frowning. "Your friend was attacked in town? How is she doing? How are you doing?"

"I'm fine. I got there when it was over. Janet Fraiser got bruises and cracked ribs. Vala Mal Doran is in the clinic with a stab wound." Parker shuddered suddenly, remembering Darla's face. She could be nonchalant up to a point; but that bitch was still terrifying, in retrospect. "A vampire named Darla attacked them and two other girls."

"A vampire?" That's a new one for Fraser so it takes him a moment to process this. "That's terrible. Let me know if there's anything I can do."

"Sure," Parker said half-heartedly, then shook herself. "Book. You wanted a book. What kind, Constable?"

He looks at her closely. "I'm sorry have come at such a bad time," he says quietly. "The book can wait."

Okay, now that's embarassing. She's in enough of a funk that the Mountie feels sorry for her. "No, really, I can get it for you. Ignore my mood. I just have too much to think about." She pulled out her best smile. "Seriously. Let me help?"

Angela comes in after math, still munching her apple.

"Hey, Parker, Mr. Fraser."

"Hey Angela." Parker waved.

"Has Angel been around today? I have something to show him."

"Not yet. But when he does come by, I need to ambush him too." Parker scowled. "His crazy ex-girlfriends threatened Jarod, and actually hurt Janet and Vala. I don't think Janet will be in today."

Angela stops breathing again from shock. When she can start again: "You don't joke about things like this. I know you. Crap."

"And girlfriends? Squid lady and the blonde who isn't Buffy Summers, right? Squid lady was hassling Marty on Monday, too." She rubs her forehead with one hand.

"I hate vampires. And, um, will Janet and Vala be okay?"

"No, I don't joke about stuff like this. Janet's almost fine, she got busted ribs and some scratches, but she kept Darla from hurting Vala any worse. Vala got a knife wound, saving Izzie, from what Isabel said. I got there late to the party and dragged everyone off in the rickshaw."

Parker sighed, looking more worried than angry now. "And Jarod got heinously, unbelievably lucky, because Crazy Squid Lady just felt like creeping him out, she didn't do anything else. She was messing with Marty? God. I hate that bitch." She made a face. "Angel's connected to both of them, and I'm going to light a fire under his inflammable ass. He can handle them, we can't, damnit."

"Janet's brave. Crazy, but brave," Angela says. "I don't know if I could do that."

"And yeah, Angel's about the only person who can do anything right now. Unfortunately. I can't believe she decided to play with Jarod's head, too. Why couldn't she leave town with her boyfriend?"

Parker brightened. "Hey. I promised her boyfriend we wouldn't kill her. But if he's not here, all bets are off. Maybe a trap, or a lure--" She grimaced. "Unfortunately, she'd probably have a Psychic Friends Network moment and see us coming."

Shaking her head, Parker said, "I have had it with her. We're almost safe, here on campus, since I think the place is warded-- and we have various crazy and scary administrators on our side. But anyone in town is just lunch food! Damnit, this is how things were in October! And I don't want to have someone do that stupid spell again, I just want these skanks dead."

"When they die, there shoudl be a parade. I hope Angel ties them up outside and just waits for the sun to risen. Then we could have a picnic and watch their flesh burn off. Maybe give them some holy water to drink while they wait. "

She blinks. "I hate knowing that I can even think of stuff like that."

"I'm pretty good, just worried about all the crazy stuff in town," Angela says. "Do you know if they're, like, hiring new police, or anything?"

"Yes, Miss Parker's just been telling me about the latest happenings in town," Fraser says, frowning again. "As for the matter of police, I'm sorry to say that I don't know. It would be a good idea though, wouldn't it?"
