"Okay, remember how I said we were going to go over divination more today? I lied. Mostly because I forgot I told you guys we were gonna be having monthly quizzes. Because I didn't give you time to prep, it'll be an easy one this time, and we'll have some time for you to review your notes or ask questions before you take the quiz."

1. Sympathy: Like attracts like, as in using materials associated with desired effect. Contagion: A part of the whole is still in a sense attached, in spite of the distance between them, such as using personal effects or materials of the target to make the magic more powerful. Antipathy: Reversals and opposition, to repel or banish.
2. Not all witches are motivated by evil or selfish desires, and not all magic is wicked.
3. Karma is the notion of "what goes around comes around." Performing 'good' deeds builds positive karma, which will at some point be rewarded in some way. It's sort of a spiritual tally of the "golden rule." If you treat others badly, the bad karma you generate will backlash against you.

1. Sympathy is making something happen to a thing or person by doing it to a picture or a mock-up, like your classic voodoo doll. Contagion is when you add in bits that were attached to the original, like sticking my hair on a Ken doll, and could we skip doing that by the way because visual image wrong in so many ways? And antipathy is like... the opposite. It's stuff bouncing back at you because you break the rules. You hit hard and the universe bounces back at you just as hard.
2. ~~They all start wearing shorter skirts and stealing each other's boyfriends the minute they figure out how to do magic. Wait, that first part's not negative.~~ That even the good ones mostly want to use it for silly stuff, like changing their haircolor, and ~~cool~~ stupid party games?
3. What goes around comes around is really more like 'instant karma' I think - from what I ~~got lectured by a well-meaning friend when I whined about having totally earned the bad week I was having~~ read, the real thing is meant to be a lot more stretched out, like over more than one lifetime - and it's not so much getting instantly smacked for what you did like antipathy, more like the universe teaching you things you need to know, based on your past screw-ups.

The Principle of Entropy, is known and defined by science in the Second Law of Thermodynamics (entropy is the measure of disorder in a system).

1) Sympathy: Like attracts like - that's the idea in voodoo dolls, that a representation of a person will stand in for that person.
Contagion: This is why a person's hair or blood is used in a spell - because it's still a part of them in some way.
Antipathy: Opposites repel. Why vampires are affected by crosses and holy water.

2) Not all witches get all gothy and skanked out.

3) Karma - what goes around comes around. You get what you deserve, good or bad.

contagion- A small amount of one thing can affact the whole of it ie by using a part of someone (and pressumably something that is close to them ie a personal item) it can affect the whole. antipathy Opposite repel ie vampires and crosses.

2. That magic is so closely associated with dark motivations or evil.

3. What goes around, comes around. Doing 'good' builds positive karma, which will supposedly be repaid in your next life. 'Bad' deeds and actions are counted against you and generally come back to make you miserable in return.

"Oh, hey, Elizabeth," said Jenny. "Yeah, what happened with that? You can make up the class if you want to sit in on the Jung class, or you can make it up in my office hours."

Elizabeth looked sheepish, and shrugged. "I have four days missing. Don't know where I was, or what happened; only that I was back in my room this morning."

She nodded, mentally running through her schedule. "When's which?"

Jenny frowned. "Damn. I just remembered. How about you come to office hours Friday? I'll be around all day. Because really? I've got to run a quiz in Jung and you won't be able to make up much that way. Just bring a book and be prepared to study. And ask questions if you want."

Elizabeth nodded. "Friday's fine," she said. "Probably better than Thursday."
