"Uh huh." Rory was obviously still skeptical. "Why did she try to shoot you, anyway?"

"Just because I was there, I think. Also? Because she's crazy. We picked a good name," Peter said, very seriously.

"Yes, she was very mean to me. But she didn't try to shoot me," Rory said. "Why was she even allowed? Weren't there like, poli - oh, right. Lawlessness."

"Maybe she was having a bad day? But, yeah, lawlessness. Fun, isn't it? Don't go into the park if you can help it," Peter warned.

"You know, that's what Bridgey said. About her having a bad day. But seriously? I have a bad day, I go to my room and turn on my loud music. I don't shoot people," Rory said. "And yeah, wasn't planning on going to the park. Since I can't dodge like you and Bridgey. My reflexes simply aren't that good."

"First off," Peter said, holding up his index finger, "of course you don't do that. You're not a crazy hooker. Second," Peter added a second finger, "like I said, I got lucky. No crazy dodging skills on my part. Third," Peter dropped his right hand into his left to add extra emphasis into his diversionary question, "'Bridgey'? Are you two a couple or something?"

"God, no. Have you been talking to Jaye?" Rory asked, covering her face with a hand in exasperation. "And I would never call a boyfriend a name like that, anyway. Bridge is a good friend, and that's all."

Rory looked back up. "And that's not what Cal said. She said you were avoiding all of Crazy Hooker's shots and that's what must have aggravated things."

"Sure," Peter said. It might be hard to figure out how it is that Peter manages to aggravate things. However, he was out of lies.

"Fine. But please don't tell anyone anything more than what they might have heard on the radio, okay?"

"Okay," Rory said slowly. "Why not?"

"I have my reasons for wanting to keep things relatively normal here. And I promise I'll tell you sometime when we're someplace a little more private. But for right now, please, just pretend you heard nothing about me doing anything unordinary," Peter pleaded.

"Heard what?" Rory asked, arching a brow.

"Thank you, oh my God," Peter said.

"Wish I knew why you were thanking me," Rory smiled, starting to head back to the desk. "Probably just for existing, huh? Because I'm really kind of awesome and all."

"You really are," Peter said, smiling thankfully.

He then picked up his reading and tried to find his place.
