Library, 1/16

[chasingangela]

A subdued and somewhat red-eyed Angela opens the library at the start of second period and props herself behind the collections desk. She casts a glance at the pile of books to be sorted; she'll get to them eventually.

And then she just sits there, staring into space and thinking.

She has her head buried in her hands, but she would be more alert if someone came in. Probably.

"I know." Parker offered her a regretful look. "I'm not criticizing, I get your reasons, and I think you're doing what you have to. I'm just saying I'm not going to torment him this week."

"And on his behalf? Thank you. Though don't be too nice, 'cause if you did he'll probably think you're being Carol Brady again, or something." The ghost of a smile touches her eyes as she speaks.

Parker snorted. "Got it. I think I'll get out the Mega-Zapper again. Messing up his hair is relatively mild, but it'll confirm my identity." She frowned. "I wonder if any of the new kids are shapeshifters like Jake. Have you heard anything about any special abilities for them?"

Angela blinks a few times. "Wow, tangent break."

"And I'm not sure. I mean, there's obviously something different about that Victor kid, though I don't know if it's just cosmetic or what, and Pip Bernadette was raised to be a mercenary. Cordelia Chase is from Sunnydale, like Xander Harris or Angel, but I don't think she can do anything cool. That's as much as I know. "

"Sorry. I'm tense, my mind wanders," Parker apologized. "I was thinking about how Jake Gavin impersonated Logan Echolls, and wondering if anyone could ever impersonate me. This led to the question of what our new kids could do. So far all the ones I've met have been boringly normal. Except for my official Little Brother, who's from the 11th Century. Poor brat."

Angela chuckles. "It's okay. But no, I haven't seen any of them walk through walls or move people with their mind, or anything. And I should probably track down my Little Sister, I haven't seen her since classes started."

"Who did you get?" Parker perched her chin on her hand, and studied the boring occupants of the library. "The last time I saw mine, I was introducing him to Twinkies and M&M's. I think he's going to send some dentist's kids to college by the time he's adjusted."

Angela giggles a little at this. "Lyta Alexander. She's a freshman, red hair, wears gloves ... seems really together, actually. SO it might be that she just doesn't need me much."

"That's good, then. I think I've met maybe half of them now. Pippi Longstocking's odd-- I still wonder about that horse-- but no odder than DEATH, and he's been here a semester already. Pip Bernadette proved to have remarkable self-preservation in not taunting me about being Carol Brady. So I think there's hope for them yet." She grinned. "And I really like Nadia Santos. We had fun in New York this weekend."

"Nadia is awesome," Angela agrees. "She and Marty seem to have hit it off so I got to hang out with her a little. And she tried to wreck our date -- phone thing, don't ask -- but was really cool and funny about the whole thing. Her friend Sydney Bristow is cool, too, which is weird because my roommate Sydney just seemed really sad all the time."

"Further proof, I guess, that the dimensional thing means anything can happen, and the same name isn't the same as the same DNA, or personality, or anything." Parker frowned. "And that reminds me, I need to give Sydney a call-- I'm supposed to be studying Russian with her, since she's Professor Dream's TA, and we haven't mapped out a study plan yet."
