Duo grins and plops down. "It's true, the Frees ain't terrible, just don't tell my roommie I was eatin' them, or he'll get all emo and not speak to me." He laughs. "Who are your friends? Don't think I know 'em."

Pip tilts his head to the side. "Why would he go all emo?" he asks. "Oh, this is Victor and Pippi Longstockings. They, like me, are new freshmen."

Duo laughs. "Hamlet's got this thing against the cafeteria food, made him sing some songs by some 20th century guy called Billy Joel. We broke in there once a while ago and found some, uh, not-so-savory things." He grins and turns to the other kids.

Duo waves back and grins. "Hey, dude, Duo Maxwell, pilot and salvager, at your service!" He mock salutes. "Nah, I'm a sophomore, before you lot moved in we only had the one. DEATH, I think. Where abouts you hail from, Victor?"

"Dang," Victor replied. "Not that it's a bad thing; you just can't vote for me. Anyways, I'm from Massachusetts. What about you?"

"Oh, school government, huh? That's cool, dude, but I don't get myself much involved, anyway, on account of, uh, malcontent with real governments." Duo grins. "Oh, USA! That's cool. I'm from L2, the space colony, but I'm American! I was only in America briefly before comin' here, so I didn't get to meet many other Yanks til now. I tried the Thanksgivin' thing, but couldn't figure it out so well." He scratches his head with a grin. "Somewhere 'round about crazy drunk uncles and Pilgrim clothes I got a bit lost."

Victor laughed. "The sad thing is that they'll probably have that here, too. But wow, you lived in space? For how long?"

"You got that right!" Duo says with a grin. "Sure can't avoid it! Especially in space in my time--yeah I live there, up until about a year ago when I started, uh, workin' for the cause here on Earth, though I was back there most of the time, anyhow."

"Cool! So what's it like to live in space? Some of the teachers at my old school gott to go a few times, but I've always been on Earth."

Duo scratches the back of his head. "Hmm. Well, the colonies are kinda like big cities, just, uh, you know, floatin' in space! I'm originally from a pretty poor colony, but I hear the richer ones're real nice! I like Earth, but all the open space sorta freaks me out!" He grins. "You should go sometime! I'm pretty sure there's plenty of ships and stuff at this school, like a field trip or somethin'. I'd offer to give you a lift this weekend, but, uh, I got this thing to do...weirdly work related, ya know how it goes!"

"No prob," Victor said, just feeling lucky to hear about space. "Do you have any movies or anything from the ship? I bet you get to see a bunch of different stars and planets."

Duo thinks. "Hmm. Ya know, I prolly have some footage somewhere. Some battle stuff maybe." He laughs. "I used to be in the habit of tapin' the other guys fightin' so I could make fun of 'em after! I'll sure be happy to show 'em to ya when I get back, dude!"

Duo grins and waves. "Hey there, Miss Pippi, good ta meet ya! How're ya likin' things here so far?"

"I'm likin' very well thank you." she says taking a bite of the s'mures.

"Back home I had to make my own excitement, but here it practically rains from the sky! It's like a vacation. How about you?"

"You sure are right about that!" Duo grins. "I thought for sure the gremlin sleepin' in my toolbox was gonna be hell, but it turned out to be way more fun than that! Even got my too-quiet roomie out to play." He laughs.

"Gremlins sleep in your toolbox?" she said, then she crinkled her nose, "You may want to put a blanket over it today what with the exterminators coming today and all."

"Well, it was only the one time, I think she left after Hamlet starting rantin' about cooties takin' over. Exterminators? For gremlins? Huh. Didn't know it was that easy. Plus ain't they our mascot or something?" He grins.

"Hmm, cooties can be quite dangerous I hear. We don't have them in Sweden... Must be the superior health care."

"Are they our mascot? Huh." She takes a sip of her drink and nods, "Yes, Principal Smith made some kind of announcement about exterminators coming today. There's a petition (http://www.livejournal.com/users/chasingangela/31244.html) going around to try and convince him to take a different tactic. I'll tell you, I kinda feel bad for the exterminators. We have similar creatures were I come from Tomte, you might call them "goblins". They really don't react well to violence and it's all but impossible to stamp them out. This'll only make 'em more agitated believe you me."

"Yeah, I kinda feel bad for the little suckers. Nasty bites, but that sure ain't their fault, just for gettin' spooked an' all. I get what ya mean, it'll definitely just piss 'em off more." He grins.

"Which could be bad," she says about to take a sip of her drink. "Unless you're not in the building when the biting goes down but are around for the aftermath... Then maybe, not so bad." She holds her drink out to Duo in a toasting gesture, "Here's hopping everybody is in the right place at the right time."
