The Library - Jan. 11th

Climbing down from his hammock early this morning, the Librarian opens the library for the morning and sits as best he can on a chair behind the circulation desk. He peeling a banana carefully with his feet while keeping a close, supicious eye on the library and, particularly, the books.

Angela waves groggily. "So you didn't get stuck with the early classes, huh?"

"I have early classes on Friday--actually, I have a lot of classes on Friday. Or, well, three, and two of them meet double. But today? No class!"

"Lucky," Angela says. "I have math first period today, and then nothing until sixth. Are you in one of the art classes Friday? I didn't notice you in mine yesterday, but that's a double Fridays." She sighs. "Which I have to miss this week, 'cause I'm visiting my parents and they booked me on an early flight."

'M in studio art, yeah. Why're you going to visit your parents now?

"Because I was all old and from a different dimension on Christmas. Marty says the other me told them there was an emergency and I'd come home as soon as I could. Which is now." Angela looks a little anxious; she really doesn't like thinking about the whole experience, and just hopes someone had told Zero the story already.

"Oh." Zero has no idea what Angela's talking about, though this does make a few of the things the Library had been babbling about a bit more clear. Still, Angela looks like she doesn't want to talk about it, so she just shrugs and goes about her business.

Angela smiles wanly. "Yeah."

"How does the library like the new boss, anyhow?"

"It's very...flaily. So I'm not sure, honestly."

[chasingangela]

"I totally understand flaily," Angela says, then goes back to reshelving some books.

After a pause, she adds. "Um, Zero? If we asked the library to, like, go easy on Marty on Saturday -- because he was totally just trying to help me and all -- do you think it would listen?"

Zero considers this while she shelves a few books. "I don't know. It might. I mean, it would listen for sure, since you're an aide and all, but I don't know if it would do it."

"Heh." Parker grinned as she walked in. "Me neither. Yay, Wednesdays!"

"I hope some of the clubs I'm in are going to meet on Wednesday. Hmm. I should send out a flyer for Gun Club, and leave it open next week for a new kid orientation on Wednesday." Parker twirled on her chair. "Oh, and I'm putting up posters for the dance today. Do you have any pictures of Dusted Bunnies you want me to use?"

Angela overhears this. "Hi, Parker. Dance?"

"Welcome-Back-Welcome-to-Fandom Dance, it's on Friday. I'm late putting up posters because my mun lost track of days but hopefully people will feel like attending anyway." Parker grinned. "Zero's band is playing."

Angela looks disappointed by this. "And I have to miss it," she laments. "I'm going home for the weekend early Friday. Making up for being all old on Christmas."

She turns to Zero. "I really wanted to see you guys play sometime, too."

"Damn, that sucks. We can get you a copy of their CD if you don't already have one, though." Parker shakes her head, then blinks. "Hmmm. New StuCo idea. Heh. And a way for you to possibly get to see them later." She scribbled in her notebook, smirking.

"I hope you have a good time this weekend, though. Did you parents ever find out exactly what happpened to you?"

"I got the CD after Thanksgiving break, I think? Whenever you went to see them," Angela says, playing with a piece of hair. "It's good."

She shakes her head vigorously at the question about her parents. "It would be way too weird for them. I left it at, "emergency, I need to be here." I know my mom is completely curious, but she won't quiz me unless I let on there's more to the story. I hope."

"Yeah, they're back in the room. I'll go get them later."

"No problem. Will they bring copies of their CD's, like they did at the Crash?"

"I'll call Emma tonight and tell her to throw some in her bag." Zero leaves the library and returns a few minutes later. "Okay, I found this one and this one. I think either one would work."

"You look really cute in the first one. Who's the guy with the tie? He's sort of hot."

[swerval_zero]

"Aw, thanks. Never been called 'cute' before. That's Toby. He sort of belongs to Emma."

"Perfect! I'll put these up on the posters as soon as I'm out of here." Parker grinned. "This is going to be great. Oh, that reminds me-- do you want to take a trip to New York with me and Lorne, and the other Caritas employees this weekend? We'd be leaving Friday night, so I don't know if that works for you."

"Yeah, I can't. If it gets cleared, the band's gonna be crashing on my floor Friday night before they fly back. Ditching them would be pretty scuzzy."
