Library (1/10/06)

After ACJ, Janet went up to her room, grabbed her backpack, and came back over to open up the library. She sat down behind the Collections Desk and started to process any library card applications that weren't finished yesterday.

"Yeah, just before break. It's still here, I take it?" Sam did a quick scan of the library.

"I mean today. It's not here today is it?" Marty asked peering behind the desk and then up at the hammock.

"I haven't seen it, but that doesn't mean it's not here. It could be a, er, sneaky orangutan."

Sam facepalmed, unable to believe she'd actually had to utter that sentence.

Feeling relatively secure that the monkey of doom isn't in, Marty relaxes a little. "Good. Then I'm probably safe for the day. How're you doing Carter?"

"Pretty good," she shrugged, then covered a yawn. "Not used to the early morning schedule any more, I guess. You? Other than hiding from a huge anal-retentive orangutan, of course."

"My life is over. Everyone thinks I have sex with ferrets and I've got Clyde the orangutan planning my punishment for taking a book out of the library."

Marty sighs.

"When did my life become the sequel to 'Every which way but loose'?"

Sam laughed. "What? Just because I got messages from both you and Angela about ferrets? Why would that make me think you had sex with them?"

She blinked several times to clear her head of that image.

"His name is Clyde? And I have no idea."

She lowered her voice and whispered, "Oh, and I'm the one who got your return message to Jack O'Neill. I'd pay you money if you could forward me a copy of the original version he sent you."

"I'm not sure what his name is. That's the name of the monkey from the Clint Eastwood movie," Marty says as he pulls out his cell phone and dials up his voice mail.

"I can't believe you watch Clint Eastwood, with or without a monkey." Sam snagged a pink jordan almond and grinned. "Bridge, huh? I've got a CD player that dispenses chocolate covered espresso beans."

She popped the almond into her mouth and munched as she listened to the message. Her knees got a little gooey and she blushed. "Sorry you had to listen to that, Marty, but at least it didn't have ferrets. Thanks, I owe you one." She handed the phone back.

She also apparently owed Jack, but it wouldn't be quite the same method of payment.

"Just promise me that Jack won't be asking me to be seen in any frilly underwear soon and we'll call it even."

"I'm almost positive I can guarantee that," Sam laughed. "And if I can't, we've got bigger problems."
