Cleaning out the library

Methos is back from the mainland and is clearing out the librarian's office.

((Last time to use this icon. *sniff*))

((Then again, there are all the icons I made last night for history class...))

"Yes. And no. I found Angela yesterday but... it's a different Angela. One that left after Zombie weekend and we never-"

Marty huffed in frustration.

"Never got together. I think she left her duffle bag here and whoever came back from special collections needs some clothes. Also Parker mentioned video feeds, is there a way I can see what happened to her yesterday? Maybe I can figure out a way to get my.... I mean *our* Angela back."

"Angela's been replaced by a version of herself from an alternate universe?" The first chance she got, Janet was going to start hunting in Special Collections for a quantum mirror. "Our Angela seems to be very definitely gone." Which was good, for now, because temporal entropic cascade failure wouldn't be a fun way to spend the winter break.

"I can get Angela's duffle bag," said Janet, going behind the Collections Desk to do just that. "You should probably talk to Rover about the video feeds, though." She shook her head. "But they're inconsistent in Special Collections. You might not be able to see what happened. Though she was reshelving books on--" Janet paused. "Time travel, I think? That would make sense."

Marty lets off a string of curse words.

"Great. I've left a message for Rover, but if the tapes are inconsistent in SC, then it isn't going to be doing me a damn bit of good."

Marty tries to reign in his temper a bit.

"Can you get me a list of books that she was reshelving? Parker said there would be a list of them because they were new. And what is it going to take to get me into Special Collections to find them?"

Marty had a pretty extensive vocabulary.

"The footage of the switch might be there. Or it might not. You never know with Special Collections." She shrugs. "That's the problem with it, and that's why we don't let people in on a whim."

Janet nods. "Sure, no problem," she says. "Hold on a minute while I look up yesterday's post find the list of new arrivals. We had a pretty hefty shipment that came in earlier this week."

"You want to get into Special Collections?" asked Janet. "Good luck. It's closed to non-library personnel when school's not in session--and even if it were in session, you'd still need a teacher's note and a specific school-related research issue."

"C'mon Janet. It's Angela. One of the library minons. How is this not school related?"

Marty's tone is quite belligerant.

"You know what, Marty?" said Janet. Her voice was steely. "Antagonizing me isn't going to get you anywhere. Do you know how dangerous that room is? I understand that you're concerned about Angela, but going in there without permission and unprepared is just asking for trouble."

"So you're just going to let *our* Angela sit and rot wherever she is? Classy Janet. So glad to see the Library crew snap into action to defend one of their own. Instead there's another version of her running around town and I haven't seen you guys do anything other than leave on vacation. Or go after people who haven't turned in ther books."

"You can believe that of me if you want," snapped Janet, slamming Angela's duffel bag on the counter. But I sure as hell don't have to take that kind of talk from you. Come up with a plan other than 'let me into Special Collections even though I don't know a damn thing about the dangers,' and then we can talk. But don't bitch me out for not getting involved when I thought you were handling the damn situation."

"Then don't throw rules in my face and lecture me about the dangers involved when you won't lift a finger to help!" Marty snaps back as he storms out of the library. leaving the duffle behind because Rory has already delivered it this evening

"I <i.was</i> going to offer to go in and look at the damned books until you got me so distracted by being an ass," muttered Janet after Marty had stalked out. She snatched up a pair of gloves and stormed into Special Collections.
