The Library Is Open - 12/19

Methos looks like he hasn't slept, and possibly has been hit by a 2 x 4 somewhere along the way.

He's working on translating the text that came for him several weeks ago, making notes in a spiral-bound notebook. If you were, say, Daniel Jackson, you might recognize the notes as sort of a bastard Medieval Latin, heavily abbreviated.

Did we mention the not-good-mood?

"Oh, how adorable," said Janet, reaching out to pet the dog.

"Hey Janet," Angel smiled. He made motions of introduction. "Sean, Janet, Janet, Sean."

"Hi, Sean," said Janet, holding her hand out for Sean to sniff. "He's beautiful. You just got him today?"

"Oh, by the way, I have something for you." She pulled out a couple of wrapped packages and put them on the Collections Desk. "I was keeping an eye out for you last night, but I didn't see you."

"I was in my room, doing gifts with a few folks ~~and totally not flirting with Callisto~~," Angel said. He smiled at the packages. "Hey, thanks. I've got something for you too but it's upstairs. I would've brought it but - " he shrugged, indicating the handful that was the puppy in his jacket.

Janet eyed Sean warily. "You know, maybe I should drop these off at your room later. I have a gift for John too, and these are a little fragile."

She grinned at Angel. "Puppies are always a little too exuberant for the good of inanimate objects in their immediate vicinity."

"Well it's all so exciting for him," Angel said, grinning like a total doof. "He's never met, well, anything. Big day."

"Aw, you're darling, Sean," said Janet, scratching behind his ears. She grinned up at Angel, then looked back down at Sean. "Yes, slobber all over the library, why don't you? It's a good thing we keep antibacterial wipes around in plentiful quantity."

"Don't worry, he's not a problem," she told Angel. "Bring him in to visit any time. Or over to the room. Jack and Liz love dogs at least as much as I do."

"Luckily I think he's housebroken," Angel said. "We're still working on the language barrier, but no accidents yet." Angel crossed the fingers of his free hand. "And that'd be great. We're going to go shopping for him soon as the sun's down. Get him a bed, leash - maybe a little Santa hat. I could bring him by and show him off."

"Holy crap," Parker said as she came in, staring. "It's huge. Tell me it's not a vampire puppy like Butterfly Brain. Please?"

"Regular puppy," Angel said. "Lab mix. Wanna pet him?"

"Sure." Parker leaned over and scratched behind the puppy's ears, grinning as it wriggled. "You are almost as cute as Cam-Wolf," she told him. "You look thrilled," she added to Angel. "Although when he's grown, your dorm room is going to seem awfully small."

"It does that now," Angel said. He grinned as Sean wriggled and tried to lick Parker's fingers. "'course that's mostly due to the flowers."

Parker's grin widened. "Ohhh, yes. I meant to mock you about that. Thank you for reminding me, Mr. Playah of the Week."

"You can't mock me," Angel held Sean up defensively. "My child is here."

"The reason you're a puppy is your daddy's a dawg," Parker solemnly informed Sean. "He slobbered alllll over some people, and they loved him for it, the same way they like it when you lick their faces. I'll never get that. But they gave him *flowers* and asked him 'are you sure it was a spell' and they're *still* doing it."

Parker shook her head, cackling. "And I thought Angelus got action with the leather pants."

Angel covered Sean's ears. "Oh, sure. Corrupt him with talk of s-e-x." But Angel was smiling. "Hey, don't suppose you know who's been sending all those flowers? I was assuming Bel was at least one of them."

"I think you'll take care of the corruption just fine, Mr. Spankings Are Fun," Parker responded. "And of course Bel's one of them. I'd guess on the others, but it's more fun to watch you squirm. Although I *loved* the one from Jack. You notice he's the only one with the guts to sign it."

"Can't say it wasn't pretty," Angel agreed. He shifted his arms as Sean squirmed into a new position. From this angle it looked like every so often Angel's coat suddenly sprouted a tongue and licked him on the chin. "Hope the others aren't going to be a problem though. Hate to think of anybody getting their hopes up when - well. You know the drill."

Parker chortled at the sight Angel made, then shot him a sharp glance. "You know, I talked to Miss Calendar about that curse. It's 'perfect happiness', not 'perfect orgasm'. I know you're a guy, but even you should know the difference between the two."

"Yeah, right," Angel said. "And if I'm with somebody and I care about them what're the odds?"

"And again, I point out that you're such a guy. There's more than three bases before home plate if you do it right. And 'care' is not the same as 'twu wuv'." Parker made a face. "Not that I think you should get too happy. But right now, you're more thrilled about that dog than anything I've seen on you before. If there was a risk of true happiness by pet, you'd already be Angelus."

"Well yeah, but - " Angel held up Sean again for Parker to see " - he's cute. Look at those big, brown eyes!"

More seriously, Angel said, "Look, even if I could avoid home or if it wasn't twu - *cough* - true love and all that... what right do I have to saddle somebody with the burden of being in a relationship with me?"
