Speech Comm

201--Speech
Final Project: Look back over the speeches you've made this term. Synthesize what you've learned and either revise one into a ten minute speech, OR generate a new one.

301--Final Project
You know what we're doing. If you need help, ask.

Lee looks at all his speeches and decides on writing one on the evils of fathers.

Parker looks at her speeches, and decides that one on how Dean Bristow is an alien and therefore she is emo and needs money for shoes wouldn't go over well.

She settles in to work on a speech about using communication to get what you want and communicate your point of view.

"Bristow it is." Parker rolls her eyes at C.J., but smirks back. "And you're welcome!"

Shep flips through the "Speech 201" folder on his computer, glancing over his previous work.

In the end he decides to make a new speech.

Sort of.

He goes for the clip show meta and explains what he's learned in speech by using exerpts from all his other speeches as examples of the individual points.

"Why you don't want to bore the crap out of your audience... and how not to do it... by John Sheppard..."

"Little people?"

"Oh! My Sims? Uh... sure. Actually they do a whole simulated speech class of their own. You have to tell each on to talk to the others to build relationships and then you have to chose the most appropriate way to speak to each person to get the results you want. If not you can get slapped. Or maybe that's the result you want... who am I to judge?"

"You could use them next term as a microcosm study of how to get people to coexist. Avoid the OMGDancing!Bears though. They tend to get you threatened with detention or get your computer taken away."

He looks up and bats his eyelashes at her.

Lindsey considers his notes from his speeches this term. He's unsure if he can get 10 minutes out of either one of his favorites. Lies about Oklahoma was fun and so was Boys are Stupid, but he's not sure he can manage to stretch either one that long.

Veronica walks into the class sheepishly after skipping Journalism and spending all morning on the phone.

"Um, Professor Cregg, can I talk to you?"

Veronica's face flames bright red. "I got bit a gremlin last night," she says by way of explanation. "And I didn't get a formal proposal written. But I changed my mind about my topic this morning. I want to propose that we start a Gremlin Bite Support Group on campus."

Anya pops in and decides that note cards for her presentation to Bristow might not be a bad thing. She begins to work on them.

Lindsey spent the entire period writing notes and crossing things out. He's still not sure what, exactly, he's going to ask Bristow for, but he's closer to a concrete idea. Hopefully he'll get there soon.

Piper wandered into class wishing she could hide in shame instead. "I'd like to request that something be done about the gremlin infestation in the dorms. A gremlin exterminator or something?"

[Sorry this is so very late. I was at a concert last night and had planned to comment here when I got home. But I crashed instead.]

*Elizabeth has graphs. And figures. And notes.

Lots of notes.*

[Chiana finishes up her notes and makes plans to call Red after class because RL made her mun forget to do that.

At least Jack remembered signing up for this class. With any luck, he'd be able to fake his way through the last few days, although it was deeply weird not remembering the previous three months.

He came in and found a seat in the back of class. In his backpack, he'd found a notebook with notes on a speech to deliver to Principal Bristow (I thought Principal Connor was principal...?) and notes on a business in town that wanted to sponsor his spirit club (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomtownies/451913.html?thread=18285897#t18285897). He pulled that out and worked on it.

[Startled, Jack looks up.] Uh, money problem? [He checks his notes, and realizes what she means.] Um... the bank in town was looking to sponsor something, and I suggested my spirit club.

[He flips more pages, but doesn't see anything about a card.] What card?
