Lee looks at all his speeches and decides on writing one on the evils of fathers.

Who could possibly have a problem? Today of all days at the end of the term? Hmmm?

At least Jack remembered signing up for this class. With any luck, he'd be able to fake his way through the last few days, although it was deeply weird not remembering the previous three months.

He came in and found a seat in the back of class. In his backpack, he'd found a notebook with notes on a speech to deliver to Principal Bristow (I thought Principal Connor was principal...?) and notes on a business in town that wanted to sponsor his spirit club (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomtownies/451913.html?thread=18285897#t18285897). He pulled that out and worked on it.

So did you find a solution to the money problem, Chip? [She leans down to his ear, whispering quietly.] And the rule about the card is you call if you don't come home, buster.

[Startled, Jack looks up.] Uh, money problem? [He checks his notes, and realizes what she means.] Um... the bank in town was looking to sponsor something, and I suggested my spirit club.

[He flips more pages, but doesn't see anything about a card.] What card?

My credit card, Chip. I told you, it's ok. Really. She's a good girl. Just...don't abuse the privilidge, ok? [She remians bent to look over his notes.] Oh, this is good. The bank is a good choice, and it helps tie the school and community together. Good. [She runs her hand in his hair] I'm not mad, Chip...just...yeah. Don't take advantage of me.

[Refelxively, he ducks away from the touch to his head.] Wait... why would you give me your credit card? [He looks up at her, eyes wide and baffled.] Do I know you, ma'am? I mean... like, really know you? Not just class?

Parker looks at her speeches, and decides that one on how Dean Bristow is an alien and therefore she is emo and needs money for shoes wouldn't go over well.

She settles in to work on a speech about using communication to get what you want and communicate your point of view.

[She arches her eyebrow at Parker and smiles like she knows a secret. She wanders over to check out her notes.] Oh, no. You want a good grade, do the Bristow one. That was funny. And, um, I'm the one who fed you breakfast, so thanks for the flowers. I'm keeping half. [She winks and walks off.]

Jesus, Chip. How many times with the ma'am? This isn't a Western. Quit messing around. It's not funny. [She pulls her hand back.] I swear, this isn't the day you want to jerk me around like this. I put the flowers in your room, but I'm only so tolerant, baby. Don't rub my nose in it, ok?

"Bristow it is." Parker rolls her eyes at C.J., but smirks back. "And you're welcome!"

[Jack shakes his head slowly.] I'm not kidding. I'm not trying to jerk you around, I swear. I just... don't know.

[She can see he's genuinely upset. Not sulking, not messing around. She frowns slightly.]

Sweetie, what can I do? This is class. The deal is I'm not mom in class. Can this wait, or do you want to go out in the hall?

[Jack swallows. Obviously there's a hell of a lot more going on here than he knows. It's not like he's trying to keep secrets anymore.] Look... I don't remember the last three months. At all. So I don't know what you mean about cards or calling home or 'mom' or whatever. [He's trying to keep his voice steady, but it's beginning to shake.] All I know about you was that you were fun and wanted to call me Chip, and I signed up for your class. As far as I know, that was two days ago.

Shep flips through the "Speech 201" folder on his computer, glancing over his previous work.

In the end he decides to make a new speech.

Sort of.

He goes for the ~~clip show~~ meta and explains what he's learned in speech by using exerpts from all his other speeches as examples of the individual points.

"Why you don't want to bore the crap out of your audience... and how not to do it... by John Sheppard..."

{The tone of his voice scares her a little, because after all this time she knows him that well...] Chip, hon, you didn't run into Drusilla again, did you? Because I can't have you cutting my heart out again. [She reaches out, flinching be damned, and holds the back of his head.] You can't remember anything from all term? Nothing? [She starts to breathe harder, trying to get air past the choking sensation in her throat.]

I don't know who Drusilla is. Cutting your heart out? Metaphorically, right?

[He doesn't pull against her touch, but he doesn't lean into it, either.] I don't remember anything. At all.

Veronica walks into the class sheepishly after skipping Journalism and spending all morning on the phone.

"Um, Professor Cregg, can I talk to you?"

[She sits slowly in the chair beside him.] Jack, I don't know where to start...if it's all gone, none of this will make sense. I adopted you, babe. You're my boy. You live with me and Ten. You tried to kill me and...[she blinks]...and you got a...[she blinks again]...Oh Hell.

You betcha, Dancing Queen. What's up?

Veronica's face flames bright red. "I got bit a gremlin last night," she says by way of explanation. "And I didn't get a formal proposal written. But I changed my mind about my topic this morning. I want to propose that we start a Gremlin Bite Support Group on campus."

[Jack puts his head in his hands.] What? You adopted me and I tried to kill you? Who... [But there are just too many questions to ask, and he shakes his head helplessly, putting it down on the desk.] Why is this happening? Tell me this is a nightmare, okay?
