After kicking out everyone who wasn't a library aide, a Librarian, or incipient club member, Parker hung a sign on the outside door:

INVESTIGATOR'S CLUB MEETING
PRIVATE

Then adjourned to the counter, where the brownies, drinks, cookies, and fudge were.

Hopefully, more than just Marty, Zero, Janet and the Souled Wonder were going to show.

"For those of you just joining us...."

"Basically, the Investigator's Club *is*, as I mentioned in the e-mail, for investigating weirdness around Fandom High and Fandom Island. Locker 327 -- though we won't be bungee-jumping in again-- gremlins, giant squid, zombie armies, and the like.

"But we have a second agenda, which some of you are already aware of." Parker looked around. "There are threats to the safety of the student body and the general population on this island: vampires, demons, unethical magicians, and evil geniuses who happen to be our fellow students. We do not want to become illegal vigilantes; that's why we've invited Professor Tick, Dr. House and Miss Calendar here. But we *do* want to protect ourselves, and our friends. You're here because we thought you could, or might want to, help."

Cameron listen to the explanation. If he needed any more convincing after the mention of vampires, having back up from The Tick sealed the deal and moves over to the sign up sheet.

Angel nodded at Parker's words.

"Something else to consider about being vigilantes: Sometimes the authorities can't help with things like this. Back home they called death by vampire an accidental stabbing with a barbeque fork. If those of us who know the truth, especially those of us with power and ability to stop it, don't do anything?" Angel shook his head. "I don't even wanna think about it."

Xander stopped a cookie in mid-trip to his mouth, and nodded. "Believe me when I say there's no way to describe the soul-deep pain it causes me to agree with him, but yeah. We used to have a principal who made 'Have a safe, PCP-free day' too -- which tended to translate to 'If you get your throat ripped out, don't come gargling to me about it."

Sam shot Jack a look, trying to figure out if he was having problems with this, or if it was just her.

"Once we have the information, Parker, what are we going to do with it?"

"Depending on the situation?" Parker nodded at the advisors. "Go to then, go to the Dean, go to the police, or go to the experts. Let's face it *some* things," she gave Sam a meaningful look, then cut her eyes to Janet, Jack, and Liz as well, "might be better handled by students. But back-up from those in the know would be great, wouldn't it?"

Sam nodded slowly. She couldn't imagine what would have happened if she'd gone to the administration with the Hathor problem, but the fact that it didn't even occur to her to do so was worrying.

Aeryn knows she probably looks relieved, especially when she glances around and sees just how many people showed up. It was good to know everyone in school wasn't a psychopath.

Veronica pretty much knew everything Parker said ahead of time. She nodded at the explanations and was surprised by the turnout.
