Investigator's Club, the Library -- NFB

After kicking out everyone who wasn't a library aide, a Librarian, or incipient club member, Parker hung a sign on the outside door:

INVESTIGATOR'S CLUB MEETING
PRIVATE

Then adjourned to the counter, where the brownies, drinks, cookies, and fudge were.

Hopefully, more than just Marty, Zero, Janet and the Souled Wonder were going to show.

Sam nodded slowly. She couldn't imagine what would have happened if she'd gone to the administration with the Hathor problem, but the fact that it didn't even occur to her to do so was worrying.

"She's got a point," said Janet, nudging Sam gently. "Did you really want the administration to get ahold of Hathor the bitch queen?"

"I had no problems with the administration getting their hands on Hathor the bitch queen," she whispered, "it was them getting their hands on you that I was really worried about."

"Hard for them to get ahold of her without me," said Janet. "And did you want them getting ahold of a queen? Did I ever tell you about their--" Janet paused. "You know what? I don't want to think about it." She took a very large bite of her cookie.

"They could have gotten her afterwards," Sam replied. "And yeah, we don't have to think about that anymore."

"Not after Thor's Hammer the place you took me to, they couldn't," said Janet. "She disintegrated. I take a great deal of vicious satisfaction in that." She held a cookie out to Sam. "Junk food?"

"It could have happened differently," Sam said, still trying to figure out why they were arguing about this. She took the cookie, though, then resolved to go for a run sometime soon. "Thanks."
