The Library (Thursday)

Around ten, Zero comes by the library and, realizing it's still locked down, sets about opening it up. The first person to enter will find that half of the lights are still off and a very pissed-off pink cat is sitting on the Circulations Desk.

"More than likely. We really do need to get a coffee maker for here, one that makes a decent cup." Parker shakes her head, and perches on her usual stool. "Does anyone know how long it's going to take for the cat thing to wear off? I'm just hoping it doesn't happen in the middle of one of your finals."

"At least this school should accept spontaneous transformation as a mitigating circumstance," Elizabeth grins. "Hey, Parker."

"Hey, Liz." Parker twirls on her chair. "Did you hear that the Dean isn't taking it as an excuse to miss class now? He thinks we're being 'trendy.' Someone ought to turn him into something, but with out luck, it wouldn't be a koala bear."

"Yeah, I heard that. What happens if you turned into something that couldn't fit into the classroom? Like an elephant?"

Parker's expression is suddenly highly entertained. "Or a dragon? Not a petite dragon like Lockheed, but a really big one? Heh. Or a tree? Would they still expect you to get to class if people were having to shop you around?"

"I don't know. I'd say to ask the Dean, but he'd ~~kill us with his spoon~~ give us detention or something for wasting time and being stupid." She frowned. "And I don't want to find out personally. Unless it was someone irrating who got turned. Then I might be behind that.

Purely hypothetically of course."

"Theoretically. Exactly."

"Because we'd never condone turning anyone into animals just because they've done something to annoy us."

Speak for yourself. If I ever figure out what that prat did to me...

Well. I shouldn' say anything. Rules.

*nods* We're available for alibis. But I didn't just say that.

No one seems t'know for sure, same as no one's quite sure what caused it. One of the prat's books, yeah, but which one?

((omg yes *collapses*))

"Oy. If only there was a way to get him to make up your homework while you're furry. That'd be appropriate."

*grumble* As far as I know, Professor Jerusalem didn' punish him at all. An' they can't fit me for one of those translator collar thingies because I can't turn into a cat on demand!

"Couldn't they give you one to just carry with you or something? Because that totally makes no sense."

*shrug* It has to be calibrated or some squallin' nonsense like that. Whatever. I'll just go bite Professor Dream's shoelaces if I need to talk, I guess.

Angela rolls her eyes. "It must be incredibly exasperating. At least Professor Dream can talk to you."

She pauses, scratching her ear thoughtfully. "He speaks Dragon, too, doesn't he? I'm not even going to ask how that works."

"That's it. He's singing Phantom of the Opera when he comes in for that card, the coward."

"Why stop there? There's a whole range of show tunes that could be used for humiliation."

"Heh. And Cats. *With* the dance routines!" Parker growls. "I don't know what his old school was thinking, letting him have stuff that could turn people into...." She blinks. "Then again, maybe I do know what they were thinking."

Angela squints at Parker. "He's a weapon," she says softly. "Is that it?"

"Or a victim." Parker shakes her head slowly. "Either someone wanted him to create random chaos, or they wanted him out of the picture. I can't believe any sane organization would give someone our age *those* books to tote around." She looks thoughtful. "I wonder which it is?"

"I guess he could be both," Angela says, clearly discomfited by the thought. "I mean, maybe he was set up, and they don't really care what happens to him."

She fiddles absently with a piece of hair. "But then, that almost makes me feel sorry for the guy."

"Cats is good," Elizabeth nods. "It has a sort of poetic justice to it. Avenue Q has some great songs too."

She shakes her head. "God knows what his old school must have been like."

"I don't want to see him singing The Internet is for Porn. No way. But I'll be he does a mean There is LIfe Outside Your Apartment."

"I'd like to think it's all an accident," Parker says dubiously. "But at the very least, if they knew what those books were? Nearly criminal negligence. He's such a twit, they had to know he might screw up taking care of those books."
