Oh, silly ethics students. You didn't think Anakin would let you get away without an exam, did you? You've had two days to recover from the potential collapse of the multiverse: that's plenty of time.

"This wasn't an exam you could really study for anyway," he said as he passed the papers out. "There are no right or wrong answers--I just want you to answer honestly and explain your reasoning." He looked around the room. "You've all done extremely well this year and I'm proud of you. Enjoy your holidays."

"Have someone take video." You get entertainment your way, Aeryn would get it hers.

"Rory might," Anakin admitted. "She makes sure the phone's always charged in case Juliet does something cute or I get bit by a gremlin."

"I'll call her about that later, just in case," she decided. "...Have you been bitten recently?"

Look, she missed everything out here.

"No," Anakin said, sounding pleased. "Jaina was, though."

"Anything good?" she wondered. Gremlin bites were funnier when they didn't happen to her.

"I missed it," Anakin said. "Juliet had gone to bed."

Stupid being a parent.

"Radio said there was something about alcoholism and being a detective, I think."

"I realize that I am still sometimes incredibly new here," she said, "but I don't think those two things should go together."

"Generally not very effectively," Anakin replied, "though it shows up in movies about private detectives whose wives have left them."

Thank you, Anakin.

"I've seen one of those! It had no color and called females 'dimes' a lot."

Dames. Which would make about the same amount of sense to her.

"And they never get slapped for it, either," Anakin replied. "If I called Rory a dime, I'd be sleeping on the couch for a month."

"John would be lucky if he went unbroken for that," she mused.

"Speaking of Rory," Anakin said, smiling, "we're having another baby in early summer."

Aeryn smiled on her end of the line. "Congratulations. You're braver than me there."

"How's Talyn?" Anakin asked. "Excited to see Santa? We need to find a mall again this year."

Since Anakin had been thrown out of the last one...

"I'm not sure about Santa this time. He's been asking for his own pulse pistol and that might not be the thing to explain..." At least there was no doubting who his mom was.

Anakin burst out laughing. "Of course he is. Deadpool's daughter Jan keeps practicing her sniping out on me. She's...four, I think."

"With a real gun?" She sounded more impressed than anything. Apparently you could take the girl out of the Peacekeepers, but...

"Not out in public yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if she's training," Anakin replied.

What? Normal children totally carried firearms this young, right?

"With Deadpool? Not at all," she said. "Is Juliet doing anything like that now?"

Totally normal conversation, really.

"We're mostly focused on blocking other people's emotions, not moving things with her mind during tantrums and, um, not sticking raisins up her nose," Anakin said.

She was still two, with all of the weirdness that went with that age.

"I've never had to deal with two out of three of those things," Aeryn said.

"It's a nose," Anakin said, exasperated. "What's so fascinating about it?"

"They can't not be used to them. They've had them for a few years now," Aeryn reasoned.

"And does my nose then become an acceptable second option?" Anakin demanded. "I don't even like raisins."

"But does your nose?" she asked matter-of-factly. "I think that's how they think."
