Oh, silly ethics students. You didn't think Anakin would let you get away without an exam, did you? You've had two days to recover from the potential collapse of the multiverse: that's plenty of time.

"This wasn't an exam you could really study for anyway," he said as he passed the papers out. "There are no right or wrong answers--I just want you to answer honestly and explain your reasoning." He looked around the room. "You've all done extremely well this year and I'm proud of you. Enjoy your holidays."

Yay, everyone exists again!

Like you should have known you'd get an exam.

You arrive home after an extended period away to discover your (hypothetical) mother has been kidnapped and presumed dead. What do you do and why?

a) Mourn and move on.
b) Brood about it constantly. Perhaps write poetry.
c) Ignore the idea that she might be dead and go after her yourself. Upon finding her remains, torch the village she was in.
d) None of the above.

You're an excellent swimmer out for a walk in your new, extremely expensive, outfit. You hear the screams of a teenager crying for help from the water. There is no danger to yourself if you attempt a rescue. What do you do?

a) Rescue the kid.
b) Keep on walking. There is no moral imperative to save people and no legal obligation to try.
c) Try to find someone else to help.
d) None of the above.

You're a carjacker plying your trade, and your latest victim turns out to be a martial arts expert who puts you in the hospital for a week. What do you do?

a) Take this as a warning from a higher power and find a new line of work.
b) Just find a new line of work.
c) Track the guy down and attempt to sue him for assault. Hospital bills don't pay themselves.
d) None of the above.

A rebel who has threatened to explode several bombs in crowded areas has been caught. Unfortunately, she has already planted the bombs and they are scheduled to go off in a short time. It's possible that hundreds of people may die and the authorities cannot make her divulge the location of the bombs by conventional methods. In exasperation, some high level official suggests torture. This would be illegal, of course, but the official thinks that it is nevertheless the right thing to do in this desperate situation. What do you do and why?

a) Torture her to get the information. There's no time left to be reasonable.
b) Torture her and her family to get the information. If you're going to do something illegal, might as well be really, really thorough.
c) Continue working through the the legal structure of the judicial system and hope for the best.
d) None of the above. Perhaps your dimension works differently?

As a "special honor", the authorities who have captured you and your children will let you choose one of them not to die immediately. You will never see the other one again, as the two of you remaining will be sent to languish in the spice mines of Kessel, which are not known for their low mortality rates. Do you choose your older son or your younger daughter? And how do you deal with the guilt?

a) You choose to let your son live. He's older and might survive the intense labor in the spice mines.
b) You choose to let your daughter live. She's younger--perhaps one of the other prisoners will take pity on her and assist her.
c. There is no c in this question.

He has a lot of Coke to hand out after the exam--he'd been waylaid by an extremely persuasive polar bear.

Peter... was still looking like he hadn't slept much lately.

Which he hadn't. He'd sleep in a couple of days when he was certain he had everything under control again.

Peter briefly considered circling 'D' and writing in, 'dance on her grave and maybe throw a big party', but he restrained himself and circled 'A' instead.

Peter circled A and wrote some Lockian drivel about solidarity and civil responsibility, but really, the simple fact of the matter was that if he got caught skimping out on saving some drowning kid, it would be horrible press.

While Lex could see the appeal of c), he circled a) since it was close enough to what he'd done when his mom actually had died.

Peter rolled his eyes and answered B. There are a great deal of ways to make your fortune in this world, he wrote, and crime isn't only a hazardous one, it's unethical, and damaging to the foundations of our society, and the respect for law enforcement that keeps it together.

But then he'd long since learned the virtues of the subtle option.

Lex scratched out 'attempt to sue him for assault', wrote in 'hack his financials' and circled c).

Anakin could blame Lionel for that answer.

Lionel would probably have circled b), or planned on doing b) while circling c) ~~future!Lex probably would too~~, instead Lex circled d) writing a note about how money provided an additional source of leverage.
