Library, Wednesday [12/7]

Gabrielle wasn't sure she'd call what she did this morning opening the library, exactly, when people had been all but living in there for the past week and a half. Refreshing it, maybe, or no, that wasn't quite --

Semantic exercises were beside the point. The point was that she came in, straightened up as best she could without disturbing any stacks of books that might be research, and left a box of baked goods outside Belle's office door since gods knew she had basically been living in there.

She got a fresh pot of coffee going, prepped filter baskets of grounds for three more, and was ready to call the library good to go for the day.

"Er. Just this one?" Fail, Francie. Fail. Also way to hug the cup like it's your firstborn totally-not-Merlin's-DNA-RLY child.

Also, because it helps when you actually look up at people, "...Kate?"

In which case, "You can totally have some!" Less cup-hugging now.

Natalie still found it in herself to look unimpressed. Seriously, again?

"At the risk of losing coffee privileges," she said, "no. Natalie."

At least it was only one blink?

"Oh." Well, now she felt too guilty to take it back, so she tried not to look reluctant when sliding it across the table. "Sorry; Kate was my little sibling when I was here." Somebody else she needed to fail to check in with. "I'm Francine."

"Hi," Natalie replied, dryly. She took the coffee, though, and looked sort of grateful about it. The encounter at the Perk had done things to her nerves.

As an afterthought, she asked, "Do you know if she's safe?"

Francine shook her head. "She's graduated too, and she's not on the board of people who came back to the island." She wasn't on the board of the confirmed lost, though. That was something. "I should try calling her."

"Probably," Natalie agreed, if mildly. Although she was annoyed at the girl for the face thing, that didn't mean she wanted her to disappear. Not that she knew it could look like her world was gone even though it wasn't. "I'm not sure if I've seen her boyfriend around lately."

She hadn't been looking, though.

"Bod," said Francine, because she might not know him well herself, but it was hard not to remember the name. "I wonder if he's with her; I think he visits her a lot."
