The Library is Open (10/31/05)

After harassing asking Jaye about the next hockey practice, Janet walked over to the library. She took down the sign, unlocked the library door, and quickly hid the food behind the Collections Desk for the staff. She stuck up a "do not touch" sign on the books yet to be shelved, frowned again at the scorch marks on the ceiling--Methos could clean them off himself, damn it--and sat down to pretend to work.

Lee slides into the library and pulls out more books on women in the military and reads studiously.

"Hey," Elizabeth smiled as she entered the room. "How did Parent's weekend go?"

"Where were you?" asked Janet. "It was weird. Murray got attacked by carnivorous ducks, and Jack got sick. The weirdest part was seeing Uncle George again, though."

Elizabeth looked around the library, crossing over to Janet and whispered "I got a phone call from the vice-president. Apparently, with the other me in Atlantis, they figured they might as well take advantage of the fact that I have the same knowledge and am on Earth. Something to do with an old treaty is all I'm going to say, and I possibly shouldn't even be saying that."

Parker walks in, yawning and looking tired. She waves to Janet and Liz and begins shelving.

Sharon's pretty sure she's been here before, but the memories are hazy. Wandering into the library, and towards the desk where Janet is, she considers exactly what she needs. "Excuse me. I'm wondering if you can tell me if I've got any books out." She reaches up and adjusts the wig self-consciously.

"Sure, let me check," said Janet. "Name? Nice wig, by the way."

"Sharon Valerii. And thanks." She smiled a little self-consciously.

((yes. hah. if I'm going to be home all the damned time, I might as well torture her with books she doesn't remember checking out.))

"You're welcome." Janet smiled back as she keyed Sharon's name into the computer.

Then she frowned.

"You have a lot of books checked out, and all of them are overdue," said Janet. She looked up at Sharon. "Do you think you can get them back today?"

Crap. To borrow an Earth phrase. Sharon tried not to panic, or show any signs that this was not only news to her, but very disconcerting. She felt her smile falter a little, "Can you print a list, or I could write them down? I think I can get them all back today."

Either that, or she could pretend to never have come into the library, but that wouldn't be useful. And she needed to come back to work on her Anthro homework, anyway.

Good morning, Janet.

*glances around, takes in the scorch marks on the ceiling* Did I miss something? *starts stacking books on the cart for shelving while she waits for an answer*

"Oh, thank God you're back," says Janet. "Are you okay? We had a freak electrical storm in the library. Also, I was the only one here for two days."

I'm swerval, yeah. *doesn't look very convinced by her own statement* I guess every day's a bundle of surprises around here.

You were the only one here? What about Professor Methos? Did he skive off on you?

"You sure?" asked Janet. "If you want to talk about it, let me know."

"Nah, it wasn't his fault. He got called away. I got the message this morning."

Parker already yelled at me quite sufficiently, thanks.

I hope it's nothin' big. I need to ask him about library policy--Professor Grissom was in here earlier askin' about reservin' stuff for his classes.

Grissom walks up to the desk. "Hi, I'm looking for the legal section, where would that be located?"

*glances up from stacking a whole bunch of books on dreams on the cart*

Four rows down, on the left, second section. Somewhere toward the middle. I...think.

"Thank you," Grissom nods, and shuffles off. He is gone for about a half and hour and returns. He has three books - one on modern law in Fandom, and two on estate and will planning. "May I check these out here?"

Leaving the Study Hall, Cameron is still a bit creeped out by the dream (http://www.livejournal.com/community/galacticagate/25540.html?thread=4666820#t4666820) he had and heads for the library. He's still feeling cold and he's looking pale as he enters the library.

I had a rough coupla weeks--but I guess it was just a few days here, huh? Anyway, they didn' manage to actually burn me at the stake, so I guess it's all swerval.
