Broots looked like he wanted to melt into the floor. "Um, it was good. We danced, I spilled punch on her dress, I apologized, we danced. And, Zero. I haven't seen her the past few days, I heard she fell into the Locker." He looked a bit nervous about that.

"Fell into the locker? she asks him, "Will she be okay? I'd hate to think your lady friend is hurt. And I'm sure she was very understanding about the punch thing. Boys your age are all feet and elbows after all."

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] dorky-broots.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
Broots nodded. "She liked the flowers I sent her, so I think she got over the punch. Of course, than we had the whole Psych thing which I would rather forget about. There are not enough words for how much I hate that class. And um, it's not so much a locker as a portal to other worlds, but I think yeah."

"Buying the lady flowers, good job, JC, I'd hate for the girls to think we didn't raise you properly. Your Psychology class isn't going well? Is it the material? The teacher? The students?

A... a portal? Are you playing with me JC?"

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] dorky-broots.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Broots nodded. "The teacher. She's a bit of a loon. She made us think we had mental disorders and then sent us out of the class. I made a bit of a fool of myself in the common room. And, she's weird. And no, not playing. A portal. This is a bit of weird school. You get used to it after a while."

Oh, well, did you have a talk with her? About leaving you out of similar situations in the future?" Maria asks, concerned because her son always did well in school, as long as it wasn't PE.

"a portal, it certainly sounds like an odd school."

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] dorky-broots.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
"I'd talk to her, but I'm a bit afraid that she'd eat me. Or feed me to her pet squid. You'll get to meet her tomorrow. Just, well, she's scary. And yeah, we're odd. The guy next door to me is a vampire, on the other side I have a demon. I think we have a few witches too." Broots nods wisely.

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] thebrootsfamily.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
"A Vampire! You know, when we were told you had to come here I had assumed it was just a school for troubled teens, not some kind of insane asylum," she tells him.

"You've been okay, haven't you?"

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] dorky-broots.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
"It's nice here. People don't beat me up. It's not that we're troubled, just different. And yeah, I've been okay. I'm TAing for my math class now. It's really cool." Broots nodded. "How are things back home? Did anyone even notice I'm gone?"

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] thebrootsfamily.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Well I'm glad you're meeting people you can relate to at least.

Do you like your Math teacher or is he the sort to make you grade mountains of homework?" Maria asks, clearly happy to be speaking to her son again.

"Oh everything's fine, Cam's vollyball team went to the state championships, Your father might be recieving an award for distinction from the American Dental Association and we all miss you terribly. Do you ever miss home?"

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] dorky-broots.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Broots nodded. "Yeah, it's nice. And no Cam to bug me either. I don't think the Math teacher would notice if a mountain fell on him. Unless there was a way to calculate the velocity at which it was falling." He grinned reufully. "I miss home, I don't miss Cam, I don't miss Dad's nagging. I don't miss my classmates. And ... I'm glad to hear about Dad's award. It must be great."

((You around all weekend, btw?))

"Your sister loves you JC, I'm sure she misses you. And so does your father. We just want you to be happy and seeing as all that time on the computer is what landed you here we sometimes think it might be best if you spent time away from it.

I'm glad you like him, he sounds very, focused and lucky for you he's clearly not the type to obsess over grading papers right? It's never fun to work for some one obsessed with timetables.

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] dorky-broots.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I'm sure she does." Broots replied dryly. "He's obssessed with time tables, but the kind that solve math alogorithms, not the ones that try to figure out the students grades. You'll get to meet him tomorrow too. Most of my teachers vanished, so I'm not taking that many classes. Um, just psych, physics, advanced math, and pilosophers."

[identity profile] thebrootsfamily.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
The Philosophers? You're taking a philosophy course? Now that's something I'm proud of, very good to see you branching out."

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] dorky-broots.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Um, well, my computer teacher vanished and I needed something to replace it. It's a new class, the teacher seems really interesting."

((*tickles* You still around tonight?))

at the mention of a portal Cam's eyes bug out.

"Tell me there's a possibility the portal will take you and never let you return, lie if you need to," she tells him.

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] dorky-broots.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah it takes you anywhere. I figure it might even land an annoying, younger, bratty sister on Mars if I asked it nicely. And some people haven't returned."

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] thebrootsfamily.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
"What's the portals feeling on pasty, pathetic losery types who really need to never come home again?" She asks, annoyed by this stupid place already.

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] dorky-broots.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Broots grinned. "It spit the first one right one, but kept his sister as a fee."

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] thebrootsfamily.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah sure, I highly doubt it would take some one people might actually miss, dork.

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] dorky-broots.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Broots glanced around himself, as if looking for the person Cam was refering to. "Oh! You're talking about yourself! I wasn't aware your friends had the brain capacity to notice one of their own was missing."

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] thebrootsfamily.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Where as the only way some one would notice you'd gone anywhere was if they needed some one to beat up!" She snaps back, "you know, no one even noticed you were gone. No one asked and no one has even mentioned your name at school. Face it loser, you're like a non-entity. Even Parker wouldn't talk to you if she couldn't bully you into doing her dirty work."

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] dorky-broots.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Broots opened and closed his mouth a few times and began to turn a bit red in the face. "At least I have friends here! And Miss Parker sees me as a friend also! And the friends I do have actually have brains unlike the guys back home!"

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] thebrootsfamily.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Rolling her eyes Cam smiles icily and then says, "Oh, I'm sorry, of course Miss Parker is your friend. I'll bet you just hack files for Miss Parker and fetch coffee for Miss Parker and generally kiss the ass of Miss Parker because that's part of your super secret best friend code.

And the way she yells at you and belittles your manhood and intelligence? That's code also."

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] dorky-broots.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Broots' eyes narrow. "Friends get each other out and in of trouble. Which is something Miss Parker and I both do for each other. And yeah, I help her. And she helps me. And she treats everyone like that. Including her boy friend. And I have my own ways of getting back. What do you know about friendship?"
