Parent Check-in

Rover, Martin Blank and Alanna Trebond sit at the registration table with information packets

Included in the packets are:
Your child's/ward's/whatever relationship you have with this person's Class Schedule
A Map of the School and Town
A Schedule of Events for Parents Weekend
The rules and regulations of Parents Weekend
A Coupon Book

At the desk is a sign saying:
Please sign in here for Parents Weekend

And depending who is looking at the sign it will magically say:
To ensure everyone's safety, please surrender any Firearms/Weaponry/Magical doodads that will cause harm to our students.

Your property will be returned to you before you leave.

Thank you!

ETA: Parents/Guardians are now required to check in on their own.
((OOC: In other words... If your parents are somewhat "normal" and unarmed they will not see the message. Unless they are packing some kind of weapon, and then they will be see it. Got it?))

"I'd talk to her, but I'm a bit afraid that she'd eat me. Or feed me to her pet squid. You'll get to meet her tomorrow. Just, well, she's scary. And yeah, we're odd. The guy next door to me is a vampire, on the other side I have a demon. I think we have a few witches too." Broots nods wisely.

"A Vampire! You know, when we were told you had to come here I had assumed it was just a school for troubled teens, not some kind of insane asylum," she tells him.

"You've been okay, haven't you?"

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

"It's nice here. People don't beat me up. It's not that we're troubled, just different. And yeah, I've been okay. I'm TAing for my math class now. It's really cool." Broots nodded. "How are things back home? Did anyone even notice I'm gone?"

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] thebrootsfamily.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Well I'm glad you're meeting people you can relate to at least.

Do you like your Math teacher or is he the sort to make you grade mountains of homework?" Maria asks, clearly happy to be speaking to her son again.

"Oh everything's fine, Cam's vollyball team went to the state championships, Your father might be recieving an award for distinction from the American Dental Association and we all miss you terribly. Do you ever miss home?"

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] dorky-broots.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Broots nodded. "Yeah, it's nice. And no Cam to bug me either. I don't think the Math teacher would notice if a mountain fell on him. Unless there was a way to calculate the velocity at which it was falling." He grinned reufully. "I miss home, I don't miss Cam, I don't miss Dad's nagging. I don't miss my classmates. And ... I'm glad to hear about Dad's award. It must be great."

((You around all weekend, btw?))

"Your sister loves you JC, I'm sure she misses you. And so does your father. We just want you to be happy and seeing as all that time on the computer is what landed you here we sometimes think it might be best if you spent time away from it.

I'm glad you like him, he sounds very, focused and lucky for you he's clearly not the type to obsess over grading papers right? It's never fun to work for some one obsessed with timetables.

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] dorky-broots.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I'm sure she does." Broots replied dryly. "He's obssessed with time tables, but the kind that solve math alogorithms, not the ones that try to figure out the students grades. You'll get to meet him tomorrow too. Most of my teachers vanished, so I'm not taking that many classes. Um, just psych, physics, advanced math, and pilosophers."

The Philosophers? You're taking a philosophy course? Now that's something I'm proud of, very good to see you branching out."

"Um, well, my computer teacher vanished and I needed something to replace it. It's a new class, the teacher seems really interesting."

((*tickles* You still around tonight?))

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] thebrootsfamily.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
Well still, it's not something that comes as easy to you as computers and science. I do want you to challenge yourself accademically JC, I just want you to not miss out on a social life either.

((yeah, and I'm not sure if I mentioned that tommorrow night I'm not, well I mentioned it but not in this thread, it was in the posts I made, but those were really long and I understand if info got lost in there

p.s. Broots' family is way fun to play!))

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] dorky-broots.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Broots nodded a bit glumly. "I know Mom, I'm always challenging myself academically. And here, it's actually fun to participate in school activities. Except the time the zombies attacked. But that was cool too, cause I got to help put people back together again."

((Omg, I know! They're so fun to play with! Thank you so much! Will you be here earlier in the day? For the other parent activities? And can I get the password for the Broots journal for the evening so I can totally loose it as I play ten characters, most of whom are talking to each other keep the neccessary convo going?))

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] thebrootsfamily.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
"Zombies?" Maria asks shaking her head, "tell me you didn't get hurt."

((yes, I should be on in the morning and hopefully into the afternoon. And yeah, will e-mail((

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] dorky-broots.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Not at all, it was actually kind of cool. Except for the whole trying to eat our brains part. And a lot of kids here are really good with weapons." Broots actually smiled. "Like I said, kind of cool."

((Woo! And, recieved and chuckling.))

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] thebrootsfamily.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Eat your brains? And here your father was thinking you wouldn't be getting much physical activity. So you're happy here? It isn't some kind of Cambodian torture camp?" She asks,

"JC, I know the court said you had to come here but you know your father has some friends at the DA's office, I'm sure if we really tried we could get the charges reduced. I don't want you to be unhappy," Maria's voice is soft and filled with compasion.

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] dorky-broots.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
Broots shook his head. "No, Mom, really, I like it here. And I'm safe here, or so the administration keeps telling me. I'm a lot happier here than I am back home." He grins. "No cam to take up all the water."

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] thebrootsfamily.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
"All we want is your happiness, it's all we ever want. And I'm glad you like it here," Maria gives him a quick hug, not trying to embarass him but he's been gone for so long.

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] dorky-broots.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Aw, Mom, come on, I'm not five." Broots blushes scarlet but is secretly glad for the hug. "And tomorrow, you get to meet all the people I've been telling you about. Just, don't piss off the psych teacher, please."

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] thebrootsfamily.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
Maria composes herself, "Of course honey, you're a big grown up man now," she jokes, "and I'm really looking forward to meeting all of them. The people that make this place somewhere you want to stay. Got it, no pissing off the psych teacher."

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] dorky-broots.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
Broots grinned. "And no eating in the cafeteria."
