Parker's eyes glitter with glee, but her smile is demure. "As much as he ever does, I suspect." She shoots John an evil smile. "Did he tell you about Johnina?"

John frowns in confusion. "Johnina? I don't believe he did. Is that another friend of his?"

"She ran for Homecoming Queen. John was *so* helpful with her campaign, I mean, you'd think he was running himself." She offers the younger Crichton a sunny smile. "But that's the kind of guy he is, really. I hope he tells you all about it while you're here."

"Well, I'll have to make it a point to bring it up to him. He's been extremely tight lipped about everything but Aeryn," Jack remarks. "I can't believe he hasn't mentioned you as of yet."

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, you know, we don't have any classes together, just a lot of friends in common. And the occasional extra-curricular activity." Parker shrugs, and becomes a little more serious. "And Aeryn is-- well, I like her very much myself. John's pretty stuck on her, I think. So any other girl is almost wallpaper, where he's concerned."

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] not-an-ancient.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Jack nods and smiles at Parker again. "I'm glad to hear that John's not being too flirtatious while he's out on his own. I haven't met this Aeryn yet but the fact that she has your stamp of approval makes me feel a lot better about her." Jack looks over his shoulder at John. "I was worried that he wouldn't fit in too well here. His mother was the one who convinced me to send hiim here."

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
"Aeryn's unique. And you really have to judge her on her own merits-- I couldn't give you a good idea of what she's like." Parker smiles brightly at the compliment, though. "Actually, there's so many --- diverse-- types here, that it's impossible not to fit in unless you're trying to be a loner. John's buds with a couple of the guys in the flight club, and he's actually been a good friend to me." Her smiles blazes up a notch. "We'll see if he still is after Halloween, though. I get to pick out his costume."

Jack nods again, very pleased that his son seems to be fitting in so well. "You get to pick his Halloween costume?" Jack laughs, wondering what kind of antics could've caused this turn of events. "Should I even dare ask why you get to do that? And might I get a hint of what you will be choosing?"

"He lost a bet. He bet I couldn't quit smoking or drinking for a week-- to help me out, I do better when people bet me things," Parker added hastily. "And I managed it, so..." She cocks her head. "Do you think he'd look good in tights?"

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] not-an-ancient.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Smoking and drinking?" Jack blanks his face, trying not to show concern that there is smoking and drinking in a high school. "Well, I'm glad to hear you stopped, at least for a while. As for tights..." Jack looks over at his son. "I think it would depend on the color," he answers good naturedly.

Parker looks regretful. "Actually, it appears I'm quitting for good. Health stuff. One good scare was enough for me." Then her smile widens. "I'm thinking... Blue tights. With a cape. and maybe boots."

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] not-an-ancient.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
Jack pats Parker's hand. "Quitting will only increase your lifespan. I'm glad to hear it." Jack's smile mirrors Parker's. "A superhero of some kind?"

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
"Exactly. We have one on-staff, I was thinking of asking him for tips. Or possibly, letting the Fashion class have at him, and dress him as they see fit." She grins. "I haven't picked out my own costume yet, but I *will* have fun with this."

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] not-an-ancient.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Jack laughs warmly. "Well, remind me to never make a bet with you, dear. Though, this is one bet I'm glad John lost. Your health is more important then a humiliating costume."

"Can't argue there." Parker gives a girlish shrug, and shoots John an amused look, then sees Sydney is moving away from Broots' parents. "Oh, allow me to introduce my godfather, Sydney LaVert. Sydney, this is John's dad, Jack Crichton."

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] centre-sydney.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
*extends his hand* "Mr. Crichton, a pleasure."

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] not-an-ancient.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Jack takes Sydney's hand and shakes it firmly. "Mr. Levert, the pleasure is mine. You're goddaughter is one of the most intelligent, well spoken young ladies I've had the pleasure of meeting."

Parker doesn't blush. But she would, if she were capable of it.

*Sydney is beaming with parental pride* "Why thank you, Mr. Crichton. I quite agree." *looks around* "And I believe I heard your son mentioned...?"

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] whitedeathpod.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
At the sound of the word 'son', John steps forward. "John Crichton, sir." John offers his hand to Sydney. "It's nice to meet you."

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
"John's the one that bet I couldn't quit smoking," Parker says in a low voice to Sydney, then beams cheerily at John.

Re: Refreshments/Mingling

[identity profile] centre-sydney.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
*Sydney shakes his hand* "Well, then I must say I'm very grateful to you, John. Ms. Parker is not always as careful with her health as I would like. It's good to know that she has such good friends to look out for her."

*Sam continues to loom unhappily in the background*

John shifts uncomfortably at the quiet voices and the smile. John's beginning to wonder if he should've introduced his father to Parker.

Parker rolls her eyes at him, then shoots him another evil smile.
