Parent Check-in

Rover, Martin Blank and Alanna Trebond sit at the registration table with information packets

Included in the packets are:
Your child's/ward's/whatever relationship you have with this person's Class Schedule
A Map of the School and Town
A Schedule of Events for Parents Weekend
The rules and regulations of Parents Weekend
A Coupon Book

At the desk is a sign saying:
Please sign in here for Parents Weekend

And depending who is looking at the sign it will magically say:
To ensure everyone's safety, please surrender any Firearms/Weaponry/Magical doodads that will cause harm to our students.

Your property will be returned to you before you leave.

ETA: Parents/Guardians are now required to check in on their own.
((OOC: In other words... If your parents are somewhat "normal" and unarmed they will not see the message. Unless they are packing some kind of weapon, and then they will be see it. Got it?))

At the sound of the word 'son', John steps forward. "John Crichton, sir." John offers his hand to Sydney. "It's nice to meet you."

"John's the one that bet I couldn't quit smoking," Parker says in a low voice to Sydney, then beams cheerily at John.

*Sydney shakes his hand* "Well, then I must say I'm very grateful to you, John. Ms. Parker is not always as careful with her health as I would like. It's good to know that she has such good friends to look out for her."

*Sam continues to loom unhappily in the background*

John takes the praise as best he can. "Thank you, sir. I'll gladly wear a humiliating costume if it means no more stories about Parker's ulcer."

Parker restrains herself from sticking out her tongue, and turns up the sweet in her voice. "Would I do that to you?"

John almost brings up the whole switching thing with him and Cam but decides not to. "Out of love, you would," John says with a sweet smile.

"Got that right." Parker smiles and turns back to Jack Crichton. "Trust me, John will *thank* me by the end of Halloween night."

"Will he?" Jack eyes both John and Parker. "How so?"

'Cause with what I've got in mind, he's sure to get lucky with Aeryn that night. "He'll win the costume contest. Of course. Parkers always win, and if I'm dressing John, he'll definitely take the prize."

John shifts uncomfortably. "Remember, no...showing stuff," John says in deference to the adults.

"I remember," she says with a cat-in-cream smile.

"Yeah, but I can see you forgetting...Parkie." John snickers. "Does Mr. Levert know about that adventure?"

Parker's face turns to a pout. "No. Don't tell him." She folds her arms. "He'd only go on at me about relaxing and taking things less seriously!"

John grins deviously. "So, I do have something on you. You were plotting with my father earlier. Why shouldn't I tell Mr. Levert about Parkie?"

"Dr. LaVert. He's a psychiatrist. He analyzes me enough already!" She bites her lip, then admits, "I may have, possibly, told him to ask you about Johnina."

*Sydney just watches the by-play with an amused look*

"What do you do, Mr. Levert?" Jack asks cordially.

"I'm a psychiatrist. I research mostly. And you?"

"Astronaut. I go into space. Missions to the moon and the like. Psychiatry, huh? Bet you hear a lot of jokes about that profession."

"An astronaut! How impressive. Quite a lot for John to live up to there, I'd imagine."

*laughs*" And yes, I assure you, I've heard every one of the jokes."

Jack laughs. "Yes, John says similar things to me about living up to me. I constantly tell him that my name will be dust once he gets going. For some reason, he just doesn't believe me."

"Children of an accomplished parent often have difficulty believing they can live up to expectations..." *is watching Parker as she talks to John*

*shakes head and laughs*
"Mr. Crichton, my apologies! Hazard of the trade, you know. Unsolicited lectures and diagnoses."

Jack waves it off with a hand. "No need to apologize, Mr. Levert. It's free advice. I always take free advice. Tell me, does Parker see herself as a psychiatrist as well?"

*chuckles* "No, no. I believe she plans to follow her father into the business world. In another few years, she may very well own us all."
