Ethics [Thursday, December 2, 2nd period]
Anakin came into the classroom and shook a small pile of powdered sugar from his robe. Fandom weather was enough to make you sigh some days.
"This semester we've covered six of the seven deadly sins," Anakin began, listing them off on his fingers, "lust, gluttony, greed, wrath, envy, and pride. That leaves us with sloth." He gave the class a brief smile. "Though gluttony might have been more appropriate to discuss right after Thanksgiving, where the tradition seems to be to eat until you burst. Regardless, sloth was originally described as 'an uneasiness of the mind'," he continued. "Apathy. Melancholy. Joylessness. And importantly, the decision not to do anything about it."
He leaned back against his desk. "The modern view understands that the mind is more complicated than that and sometimes it is impossible to will yourself not to be sad. Instead, this sin now focuses on the failure to utilize your talents and gifts." He glanced around the room. "In a school filled with as many talented beings as this one, I think it would be almost criminal to not live up to the potential each of you has. Today, pair up and talk about what your plans for the future are, and how the classes you've taken and the people you've met here will help you in your greater life goals."
You know, a really easy subject.
"Oh, and Mister Starsmore, please see me after class."

She was so charitable. Truly.
Re: Listen to the lecture [12/2]
He shifted his weight more than a little uneasily, and then tried to focus on what in the world he aspired to be, instead.

(And if she died when she was supposed to--well... )
"Cassidy, right?" She knew she was, but it was a good starting place. "Need a partner?"

Beyond that she didn't have the slightest freaking clue what she'd have picked as an alternate career, except that it sure as hell wasn't doing what her father did, so... hello, look of consternation on her face.
Re: Answer the discussion question [12/2]
On the other hand, she couldn't think of any other job than following the family way of public entertainment and crime fighting, even if she wasn't sure she wouldn't chicken out the next time something nasty happened on Fandom.
"Hey", said as she tried not to look equally worried about her future. "Tough question?"

Jono drummed his fingers on his knee and attempted his 'if I glare at people, they won't come to talk to me' strategy.

As a boy, he rarely made plans beyond the next heist. A few caches of clothes and coins throughout the city as forethought, but...
Then Arutha. Banishment from the Mockers. Appointed Squire. Court duties. James had a plan for his future now: the Duke of Krondor, right-hand man to the heir to the throne, running the second-largest city in the Kingdom. His home.
Re: Answer the discussion question [12/2]
Since when was apathy a sin?
He shrugged at James. "So talk."

Witness her left knee bouncing up and down with hyperactive energy. Or maybe that was just ingesting too much powdered sugar. Or both.
Talk to Anakin [12/2]
Much.
...it's not that effective with powdered sugar in his hair anyway.
Re: Talk to Anakin [12/2]
Jono was doing an admirable job not looking nervous or perturbed in the least, really. Straight back, slightly raised eyebrows. Completely at ease, if curious.
But, if nothing else, there was that hint of unease lingering underneath over being singled out. That was never good news, was it?

"I had a talk with Raven," Anakin said. "Is there anything you would like to tell me?"
