So You Say You Want a Revolution: Week 2, Period 3
"You all found your way back," Aly said with a teasing smile as the bell rang for the class to begin. "I'd be impressed, but I've met Fandom students before."
"Before we start, I'd like to introduce my TAs for this term - Ino Yamanaka, Rinoa Heartilly, Percy Jackson, and Nico di Angelo. Four isn't usual, I know, but we're trying something new this time around. I'd like each of the TAs to head up a small group of their classmates. When we work in teams or have small discussions, that's the group you'll be with."
She went to flip over the whiteboard to show the groups she'd set up.
*Percy Jackson
Cally
Faramir
Jason Todd
Makita
*Rinoa Heartilly
Cara
Kyle Reese
Leda
Proto
*Ino Yamanaka
Cloud Strife
Karla
Leia Organa
Shira
*Nico di Angelo
Elphaba Thropp
Katniss Everdeen
Luke Castellan
Aly glanced at the groups then back at the class. "If you hate who you're with, talk to me and - yeah, never mind. If you hate who you're with, deal with it. You don't always get to work with your friends when planning a revolution. Pull your desks together, and spend some time getting to know each other if you don't already.
"Last week we talked about the reasons why you personally would rebel against a government. What I'd like you to do today is to stay in the small groups and talk about why you - as a group - would rebel against something. You can look at it seriously or rebel against mandatory cheerleading uniforms for the whole school, but remember, revolutions aren't put together by one person. It's always a group effort. So today, let's start with that."

And assassination. Which she didn’t say out loud but did write out on a piece of paper clearly, for long enough for Karla to get a look, before Ino crumpled it in her hand. Being in class meant she wasn’t going to say that out loud. Even if Aly probably wouldn't mind.
"My big issue's got some of the same facets of a rebellion? But ain't really one. What're your reasons?"
Re: Discussion Groups [9-8]
Since they were sharing, Karla rested her hand on the desk in front of Ino, palm up, and slid out her snake-tooth from under her ringfinger nail. "Don't touch," she advised, very, very quietly.
She didn't think Ino would, but she needed to say it all the same.
"Those in power back home are hurting and exploiting the people," Karla said, returning her snake-tooth back to it's regular resting place and bringing her hand back to her lap. "Breaking, enslaving, killing for profit. All that. Real pleasant people."
Re: Discussion Groups [9-8]
"Don't got immunities," she admitted, "but I'm pretty good at natural poisons. Chemical based ones I don't have much background in, though I know how to use them." There was a difference, after all, between knowing how to extract and combine a one and pure and straight just using it.
Any idiot could coat a kunai with poison.
She glanced at Karla. "Charming people, surely," she replied, arching an eyebrow. "If I'm needed..." Sure, she'd help. Not for loyalty, but because Ino really and honestly did love her work on several levels and with her current situation back home... well. Options, Reno had said. She just had to look for them.
Even if Karla didn't have anything for her to do--saying it never hurt.
"Is there anything organized against them at the moment?" Staying on topic was, apparently, something she was going to have to work at today.
Re: Discussion Groups [9-8]
Mostly spiders because, well, they weren't called Black Widows for nothing.
"And not much is organized," Karla said, making a slight face. "Everyone's kind of hunkered down, trying to survive until I'm old enough to form my own Court. My cousin's there, keeping an eye on things and cultivating resources, but he can't tell me much except when we see each other in person. It's not safe to write about what he's up to."
Re: Discussion Groups [9-8]
Slight difference, but potentially one that interested her.
"And that's no good--how long do you got to wait 'till it's formed?"
Re: Discussion Groups [9-8]
Considering Morton wore the Rose, finding someone with a darker Jewel to spy on him wouldn't be that difficult.
"As for me, I can't form my Court until I make my Offering to the Darkness. The earliest that can be done is seventeen, but it's usually better to wait a little longer." Hmm. She probably needed to explain that a little better. "The Offering is where I come into my full, adult strength. Rushing it means I might not reach my full potential."

But traveling to Dhemlan took hours on the Rose Wind, which meant he couldn't do that often. Nor could he take a Coach on a darker Wind, because that was far too easy to track.
